STOP ELDER ABUSE!!! - The Interim Report of the Royal Commission

into the Financial Services has revealed widespread "unconscionable

conduct" on the part of financial institutions and that no serious

attempt was made by authorities to stop criminal acts. The same is

happening with other aspects of "elder abuse" with an abject failure of

the Police and others to carry out their duty. The Police MUST BE

COMPELLED to enforce the law particularly to protect the elderly from

abuse!

Port Stephens 2019 State General

Election 23/03/2019 Port Stephens

I don’t have a Law degree and I’ve never been to Afghanistan. What I

do have is life experience in many facets of life. I’ve worked for all

three branches of Defence. I’ve actively volunteered in the community

for numerous years and I’ve worked in each of the industry sectors.

Unfortunately following our move to Port Stephens region I went

through a period of unemployment due to the socioeconomic

conditions in the greater Hunter and despite working for 40+ years not

a Certificate III to my name. My wife and I have had to live on the

miserable Newstart Allowance and been made to feel that we were

“dole bludgers” or social cheats, taking everything we can get from the

community and giving nothing in return. Sadly, I’ve been marginalized

because of my age and ignored despite identifying a disability. And to

be honest, I’m FED-UP! 1. FED-UP with the excess in all levels of

government and the arrogant belief that they deserve more than

those that voted for them! 2. FED-UP with being promised the earth

and given an atlas! 3. FED-UP with public health and schools being

ransacked, diminishing their ability to properly serve our communities!

4. FED-UP with Governments and their hidden agenda! 5. FED-UP with

Governments and politicians that want to privatize everything but

their own jobs! 6. FED-UP with no one taking responsibility for their

actions any longer! Hey I’m just FED-UP!!! I would like the opportunity

to fight for substantial change in all these areas. Proper funding for

public schools and hospitals, reduce government sector executive and

elected officials salaries and allowances. Priorities infrastructure

projects based upon “Community Safety and the Governments Duty of

Care to its citizens” ahead of tourist facilities and sports stadiums. If I

were fortunate enough to be elected to represent Port Stephens I will

lead by example and gladly give 30% of my MP salary, on top of the

electoral allowance, towards the Port Stephens electorate, starting

with local public schools. I would challenge local government

executives and officials to do the same. We know things are tough and

Therese Doyle was a councillor on Newcastle City Council from 2012

to 2017. Therese gained a reputation for integrity, reliability and

standing up for residents' rights. Working collaboratively with local

community groups, council committees, and constituents, Therese

fought for an urban renewal strategy that would meet residents'

rather than developers' needs. In the seat of Charlestown, Therese

stands for a decisive shift in government priority away from serving

private interests towards public services that are put back in public

hands, especially transport, education, energy, health and housing. No

seismic testing off our coast, a just transition now from coal and fast

Election 23/03/2019 Canterbury

All Australians have a right to be adequately housed, access to

education and medical support. They also have a right to sufficient and

appropriate employment. Canterbury needs more green space, public

schools and an increased number of hospital beds. The development

in Canterbury needs to be of a much higher standard and provide a

better quality of lifestyle.

Grierson, Kim

Lake Macquarie 2019 State General

Election The Greens NSW

Election 23/03/2019 Lake Macquarie

I have lived in Lake Macquarie for 22 years and have raised my

children here. I love Lake Macquarie and want the area to do well. I

believe that climate change is the biggest issue for us to urgently deal

with to prevent disaster for our children. NSW needs to move quickly

to renewables as our aging, coal clunker power stations are retired.

Research tells us this will create many thousands of new jobs, far more

than the coal and gas industries. During my career, I have worked in

employment, rehabilitation and education. In recent years I have

worked for TAFE in the Disability Service, helping students with

disabilities to train for work. The labour market is rapidly changing due

to automation, computerised systems and the internet. It is therefore

vital that our public education - schools, pre-schools, TAFE and

universities - are well funded and supported, so that our young people

and unemployed can cheaply and easily train to get employment.

Good public transport and cycleways give us the options to avoid the

increasing congestion on our roads. We need Glendale station to

finally be built, and the superfast train to connect Lake Macquarie to

other parts of Australia. This will create business and employment

opportunities. The Greens will fight for ethical government. They will

always put community and environmental need before developer

greed.

Election 23/03/2019 Gosford

I have a passion for the environment and am very concerned about

the current State Governments lack of action on climate change and

the long term economic impact this will have on our region. As

someone who runs a business in Gosford, I want to see our area thrive

through job creation in renewables; eco tourism; protection of our

beautiful beaches and waterways; protection of our water sources and

a tougher approach to waste and pollution by the EPA. I believe in

ecological sustainability; social justice; grassroots democracy; peace

and non violence.

work to overcome the housing crisis in NSW by ensuring more funds

are spent on social and affordable housing, funded by a progressive

tax on land, which replaces stamp duty.

Williamson, Douglas James Swansea 2019 State General Election The Greens NSW

Election 23/03/2019 Swansea

Recently Qualified as an environmental scientist, one of my links with

this area was assisting my uncle, a former voluntary warden at the

Belmont Lagoon, where we carried out maintenance and after hours

guardianship for a number of years at this local waterbird nursery.

During and since retiring from public education I have worked on a

number of campaigns to: End logging in NSW forests; stop nuclear and

timber ships coming into Australian ports; disarmament; no coal seam

gas; transitioning out of coal mining and coal power generation; public

education; public transport before tollways and NSW Government

corruption. These and others are issues I will fight for in Swansea and

the greater Newcastle region. Another major issue for Swansea is the

offshore seismic blasting program currently planned by Advent Energy

from 9 April this year to occur every 3-4 seconds for 24 hours a day.

This will kill and injure humpback whales at the end of their migration

to their breeding areas on the Great Barrier Reef, dolphins and other

marine life by deafening them at a time when we are only becoming

aware of the high dependence of marine creatures on noise signals off

our eastern seaboard.

There needs to be a radical transformation of NSW from a state which

is being ruled on behalf of corporate, developer and mining interests,

to one where social needs and protection of the environment is at the

centre. For more information visit: socialist-
