ADULT SWIM TRAINING AND FITNESS (AGES 18+)

Instructor will guide ability-appropriate group workouts. Interval sets, endurance work, drills and technique feedback will be emphasized. Program is open to all adult swimmers (fitness, triathlete, competitive and non-competitive) who are dedicated to improving fitness through swimming. (15-17 year olds can join with coach permission).

WATER EXERCISE

This shallow water workout includes calisthenic-style movements with variations of upper and lower body resistive moves. Participants will march, jog, kick and jump through the water to create resistance to improve cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance and flexibility.

PEDALING FOR PARKINSON’S

Pedaling a bicycle can change the life of someone with Parkinson’s disease. Fast pedaling is not a cure of Parkinson’s disease, but there is compelling evidence to show it makes a difference for the many who try.

Program Requirements:

- Diagnosed with Idiopathic Parkinson’s Disease

- Complete and submit a signed consent form and medical clearance.

- May not have cardiac or pulmonary disease, uncontrolled diabetes

mellitus, uncontrolled hypertension or stroke, dementia or other

medical conditions that are contradictive to exercise.

- Agree to periodically monitor progress.

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA SEPTEMBER 16 - DECEMBER 4

This cancer survivor program focuses on the whole person. Participants

work with trained Y staff to build muscle mass and strength, increase

flexibility and endurance, and improve functional ability while enhancing

their emotional well-being in a supportive community.

MOBILE KITCHEN QUICK & EASY HEALTHY MEAL DEMOS

In today’s busy world, it is harder to find the time to prepare delicious family

meals that are nutritious and healthy. Through a generous donation from

Kerry Ingredients, we have been able to create a mobile kitchen. Cooking

demonstrations are held throughout the year that feature step-by-step

instructions on how to make easy, delicious and healthy meals for the entire

family. Look for posted days and times throughout the year. Free samples are

available for participants. Demos are scheduled throughout the year and are

conducted in our lobby. Dates and times will be posted at the Welcome Center

2 weeks prior to demo.

FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITYFIT FAMILIES SEPTEMBER 15 - NOVEMBER 24 AT THE BELOIT BRANCH FIT FAMILIES ROCK (FFR) is an 11-week comprehensive program that helps families lose weight and get fit together. FFR works with families to find the behaviors, nutrition habits and activities that will work best for them over a lifetime. This program is for youth that have been clinically diagnosed as overweight or obese. What will the program involve? Education: FFR is based on the latest research on weight loss and features a variety of local experts to coach your family on challenges. Physical Activity: Your family will have the opportunity to try a wide variety of physical activities together. The activities will be led by fitness professionals and may include: cycling, yoga, obstacle courses, family walks, aqua-aerobics, pilates and more. Health Professional: You will receive an outstanding education from the following health professionals: Pediatricians, Dietitians, Chefs, Exercise Physiologists, Youth Development Educators, Psychologists and Fitness Professionals.

LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION BLENDED LEARNING (AGES 15+)

Utilizing classroom and web-based learning, participants seeking to become a lifeguard will receive the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies as well as provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses unit emergency medical service personnel take over.
