Independent Living Philosophy
“NOTHING ABOUT US WITHOUT US”
“Consumer Control” - Consumers have the right to fully participate in decisions that affect their daily lives.
Each person is unique and has the same civil rights as others.
IL Philosophy (continued)
People with disabilities should be able to live, work, shop and play where they choose within the community.
Disability is a natural part of the human experience.
Fix the environment and not the person.
Californians with a brain injury live in their community of choice and contribute to society.Available resources empower individuals with a brain injury to be participating citizens. The inclusion of individuals with brain injuries is essential in our social and economic success.
