Trauma Program Update

The ACT would like each region to claim a priority on the Bis Assessment to tackle for SFY 2020. See attached priorities. Claimed Priority: Not claiming a priority Regions feel they do not have the empowerment to implement these plans and work on a process. This question needs to ACT on May 1st.

Special Populations Pediatrics: Geriatrics: At the February ACT meeting, Danielle Sass presented Falls data to the Committee. The committee agreed to endorse the following measures:

• Expansion of fall prevention programs • Expansion of access to evidence-based exercise

programs • Expansion of transportation access to attend

programs. See attached infographic Discussion: Finding a more appropriate approach to falls in rural Kansas. Resources will be coming on kstrauma.org website as well as the center on aging website. Invite your local KDOT people to your executive committee meetings for collaborative purposes to expand access to fall programming. Would take a county champion – would require position funding.

Stop the Bleed Application Continued Norton County Hospital

The intended facilities to receive this training include both local high schools in our county, Northern

Valley High School and Norton Community High School. We have a course already scheduled with

Northern Valley High School on August 14th where freshman, juniors, and available faculty will attend

Stop the Bleed Training while the sophomores and seniors receive CPR training. This is the second year

of providing this training to Northern Valley students and faculty. The other intended facilities include

Natoma Manufacturing Corporation, New Age Industrial Corporation, Ag Valley Cooperative, Prairie

Land Electric Cooperative, and Miltech Machine Corporation. Per the company’s request, the Stop the

Bleed course can be included in their regularly scheduled trainings or as a separate class.
