Cellular Backhaul Applications

• Alternative to Leased Lines• Complementing existing networks in Rural Areas

• Remote communities & locations• Low ARPU communities• Hard to reach locations and NLOS scenarios

• Overlay to network coverage in Urban Areas• Enhance coverage and capacity • Providing service to “low-ARPU” locations in the city• Hard to reach locations – Problematic trenching or N-LOS scenarios• NLOS scenarios • Addressing peak hours requirements and temporary events• 3G ramp-up (More base stations; More capacity per site; Street-level

locations)• Intermediate backhaul• Backup

Airmux-400 – Benefits

• High bandwidth with longer range – 50Mbps full duplex net throughput reaching up to 120km

• Combined TDM* & Ethernet services on one platform

• Applicable to nLOS, over-water deployments and high capacity over extended range with improved robustness thanks to the OFDM, MIMO and antenna polarization features.

• Flexible product usage (& stock reduction) of the single configurable ODU.

• Fast and easy deployments via installation and alignments tools

* TDM supported in version 2.2* TDM supported in version 2.2

Spatial Multiplexing MIMO

• MIMO = Multiple Input Multiple Output

• A high rate signal is split into multiple lower rate streams and each stream is transmitted from a different transmit antenna in the same frequency channel.

Streams merged

into one signal

Lower rate streams

Benefits of MIMO-OFDM

MIMO achieves significant increases in capacity, range and reliability without additional bandwidth or transmit power

• Increased range and reliability:• The Ethernet data stream is split into two lower rate chains.

• These chains can be transmitted in lower rates, achieving longer ranges and higher reliability

• Increased capacity and improved spectral efficiency• Each radio (chain) carries the full OFDM channel capacity

• Both radios use the same 20MHz channel

• Thus doubled capacity per the same channel bandwidth

• Improved availability• The streams arrive at the receivers in different quality. MIMO chooses the best

stream available

• Paths in poor quality are thus eliminated and availability increased
