A. Note on S.l. Units

The International System of Units. abbreviated as 5.1. Units, is aunified and systematically constituted system of fundamental Rlldderived units for international use. This system of units is now beingused in many countries, and it is hoped that it will be used through­out the world very Soon. In India, the Standard of Weights andMeasures Act of 1956 (wide which we switched over to M.K.S.Units) bas been revised to recognise all the S.1. Units in Science andTechnology as well as Industry and Commerce.

Through there are many rules for the style and usage of 8.1. Units,yet the following are important from the subject point of view:

1. For numbers having 5 or more digits, the digits should beplaced in groups of three, separated by spaces counting bothto the left and right of'the decimal point.

2. In a four digit number, the space is not required, unless thefour digit number is used in a column of numbers with 5 ormore digits.
