A message from the fair board president

e arrival of fair week in Owatonna represents a full 12 months of planning and work by fair board members, staff and other volunteers. e culmination of all this work will result in a full week of entertainment and enjoyment by those at-tending the fair.

In the interest of continuing to experi-ence growth in the fair, we are proud to present an expanded midway for the enjoy-ment of fairgoers. We are condent that all of you attending the fair will be impressed with the Goldstar midway. There will now be 40 rides of-fered to fairgoers. Many of these rides have never appeared in Minnesota before and are state fair quality rides. e Gold Star midway is a clean well run midway and I am condent parents and kids alike will be impressed as was the fair board in earlier visits with Mike Featherston and his midway sta. ey are excited and proud to bring their midway to our fair.

Note that there are two great music shows in the grandstand this year. Wednes-day night, it’s Martin Zellar and his trib-ute to Neil Diamond with opening band, Justyn Dow of Owatonna. ursday night will feature Hairball in concert with open-ing band “em Pesky Kids”.

To all of those who work so hard and long to make the Steele County Free Fair a one-of-a-kind county fair, I issue a big thank-you. I am condent that everyone attending Minnesota’s biggest county fair will have an enjoyable experience. It truly is “e Biggest Reunion in the State of the Union.”
