Photograph it 3 Use object for scale – ruler, coin, thumb. 3 Photograph entire sample undisturbed and include surroundings. 3 Photograph sample close up. 3 Use a neutral non-reflective background. 2. Record it 3 Location 3 Season (hot season, cool weather time). 3 Name and contact. 3 Size – use object for scale. 3 Colour. 3 Water depth you found it at. 3 Environment (beach, sand, rock pools, in weed, on water) 3 GPS reading if possible. 3. Collect it 3 Carefully collect sample or samples. 3 Collect samples of different sizes. 3 Store in zip-lock plastic bag or plastic container. 3 Complete label with a pencil (date, ranger name, location, other records). 3 Place sample in an eski or fridge. DO NOT FREEZE. 4. Report it 3 FISHWATCH – 1800 815 507, if samples have been collected.
