Fields and his family moved from California two years ago to be closer to extended family and landed at Columbia Academy. “We came to CA specifically for the strong tradition in education, spirituality and athletics and we were not disappointed,” Fields said. “In our time here, we have grown to love the environment for our family. I want to continue to foster that type of atmosphere for not only girls basketball, but for all the athletes I’m involved with here.” During the past two years, Fields has served as a volunteer assistant coach in golf, baseball, and varsity boys’ basketball at CA. Fields also played an integral coaching role in the Bulldogs’ Final Four finish in the 2017 State Tournament, according to Bulldogs’ Head Basketball Coach Marty DeJarnette. After working with Coach Fields last year as my assistant, I have no doubt he will lead our girls program to be competitive at all levels of play every year,” said DeJarnette. “I believe the players will love playing for him and they will be united. He will bring positive energy and enthusiasm to approach each day as an opportunity to get better. I am looking forward to working with him and making the basketball program at CA, as a whole, the best it can be.Prior to his move to Tennessee, Fields worked for 20+ years as a corporate executive. Stephen Fields joins CA as new head girls’ basketball coach

COLUMBIA, TENN (August 3, 2017) –Columbia Academy recently welcomed Stephen Fields to the role of varsity girls’ basketball coach to begin in the 2017-2018 school year. Fields and his family moved from California two years ago to be closer to extended family and landed at Columbia Academy.

In his new full-time coaching position with CA, Fields will also be teaching and continuing to assist with golf, baseball, and varsity boys’ basketball. Fields said he looks forward to the challenge of his primary role coaching the Lady Dawgs with assistant coaches Stephanie Butterfield and Trent Thomason.

“I want to continue to build on the sports tradition that CA has built,” Fields said. “The athletics program works to put quality athletes on the field or the floor every single game. Coach Embrey took this program to a new level and I want to continue to build on that foundation and achieve even more.”
