Merry Christmas from Msgr. & Community Council Dear fellow parishioners of Christ the Servant Parish,

Merry Christmas! We hope the Christmas season brings many graces and blessings to you and your family. May the peace and joy of Christ enter more deeply into your heart this day and continue throughout the New Year.

Wherever you are in your journey of faith, the Christ the Servant community strives to be a place where you are empowered as a Christian disciple to live out our shared mission as a community: to love and serve the world as Jesus did. Our survey two years ago resulted in numerous, ongoing efforts of social justice outreach to the community. The most recent survey this fall turned our focus to small Christian communities and ways to become more welcoming and inviting as a parish. In addition to greeting one another before Mass, why not start a conversation with someone you don’t recognize after Mass? Welcoming others with the hospitality of Christ involves everyone from the Pastor down to the person in the last pew, and everyone in between. As you look ahead to your resolutions for the New Year, we hope you consider becoming more involved in one of the many opportunities for faith, fellowship, and service listed in the bulletin and on our website. I would like to highlight especially small Christian communities that will be starting in the next few weeks. One community will meet every other week on Thursday evenings beginning January 11th to discuss Perfectly Yourself, the book by Matthew Kelly that is being distributed at Christmas Masses. Another group will meet monthly to watch and discuss the on-line Formed resources. A third group will gather for prayer, Scripture reflec-tion, and faith sharing. Check out the bulletin and parish website in coming weeks for more information. Or con-tact me and I will send you all the details about day, time, and location ([email protected] or 330-256-1636). God’s love overflows in the gift of the Christ child. May this love empower us to a greater depth of love toward God and neighbor, toward family, friend, and fellow parishioner! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

We had another successful week for our food collection. Total food collected was 475 lbs. clothing, 97 lbs. and toiletries 49 lbs. That makes our grand total 621 lbs. Wonderful! Hope Outreach will be very grateful. This time of year is especially hard so our mission is doubly important. Reminder: We will not be collecting food over the Christmas weekend. We will resume our regular collection on Dec. 30 and 31. Thank you all for your generosity and giving spirit. I wish you all a merry and blessed Christmas .
