STEPS OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF MY

MUSIC MAGAZINE.By Eleanor Hickman

Page 2: Steps of the construction of my music magazine

To begin with I selected the cover photo I wish to use and then created my masthead where I used Photoshop text ‘Myraid Pro’ for the lettering. For the ‘O’ in in record I decided to use an actual record image to make my masthead stand out to my reader.

Next I added a strapline to the top of the page with the quote ‘The UK’s Biggest Music Magazine’ where I used the shape tool and text.

To relate to my cover image I added the name of the artist and a quote from the double page spread to make readers intrigued as to what the article is about. I also added a barcode because it is important in order to sell the magazine to consumers.

In order to fill my magazine I added cover lines about the pages in my magazine so consumers can have an understanding about what the magazine consists of and I used the text tool to do this as well as changing the colours so it looks more interesting.

For this step I got an image of a polaroid photo and pasted it to a new layer.

I then added the image to the polaroid and text as well as a quote from the article.

I began by opening a plain white background and I put my masthead onto a red background to make the white writing standing. I used inspiration from my front cover masthead where I replaced the ‘O’ with the image of a record. I also inserted an image, the QR code, which I created and the text box above to indicate what the purpose of the QR code is.

I then inserted texts which told my readers about all the pages in my magazine and what they consisted of.

Next I added the images of my artist that features in my main double page spread and others from my ‘frapture’ double page spread.

Next I added page number and other texts that were important, for example page number and date of the release of the image.

I added the bold white text that contrasted the dark colours in the image behind so the consumer will be attracted.

On this page of my double spread I chose an image of my artist and added a pull quote from my text.

To complete this page I added red squares for a burst of colour and the page number so the consumer could direct themselves from the contents.

I started the construction of my second page of my double page spread by using the text tool to put the page number, name of artist, name of magazine and the drop capital.

I then added the interview that I done with my artist and used a contrasting colour for the questions so it stood out and so the reader knew it was being asked to the artist.

To finish my double page spread I used small images at the bottom of my artist in different looks to show her versatility.
