PLEASE TAKE TWO MINUTES TO READ THIS PAGE.

An article published in The Journal of Neuroscience by Liu, J. et al. (2013) found a correlation between visuospatial ability and height. The following is a summary of their findings.

In the United States, the average height for males is 5’9 ½” and

5’4” for females. Visuospatial ability refers to the understanding and conceptualizing of visual representations and spatial relationships in learning and performance tasks such as mental rotation, 3D abstraction and shape recognition. Liu et al. (2013) found that individuals of below average height performed significantly lower on tasks measuring visuospatial abilities than their counterparts of above average height. Liu et al. (2013) argued for a possible genetic component to visuospatial ability that is also involved in the expression of height.

The following is a graph of the average heights of men and

women in the United States.

At the end of the TWO minutes please turn to the next page. Do not return to this page at any point in time.
