Stereotypes in pop videos.

What is a stereotype?

A stereotype is a typical view on a group of people. There are many different stereotypes used and represented in pop videos. This includes stereotypes for black men and black women.

Black men.Black men are usually represented in a particular way in pop videos. This includes them;• being in gangs• being a player, a heterosexual, very promiscuous with lots of women• being a thug/criminal• wearing expensive clothing or jewellery• flaunting wealth• being aggressive • using women as objects• showing friends come first• wearing glasses and baggy clothes• wearing big gold chains ‘BLING’
