Dry-Heat SterilizersDry-heat dental sterilizers use high temperatures for extended periods to sterilize instruments.

Most dry-heat sterilizers produce heat and then circulate it through the chamber in a process called mechanical convection.

Chemical-Vapor SterilizersChemical-vapor sterilizers rely on the use of chemicals to produce a vapor that accomplishes the sterilization. This type of sterilizer processes instruments quickly.

However, these chemicals can be expensive, and they require the chemical-vapor sterilizer to be placed in a well-ventilated area to avoid the unpleasant odor from the chemicals.
