Uniform Thank you to those families who responded to the uniform survey. The preferred option was Option 3. This is the phasing in of our current sports shirt as our everyday shirt and a reverse of these colours for our sports shirt. This will be ratified with the P&C at the next meeting with a planned phase in through out 2012. I will keep you informed Riley T I congratulate Riley on his success at the recent Zone Athletics Carnival. Riley will now go the Regional Carnival. Soccer Team Our Knock Out team was defeated yesterday 4 to 3 in extra time. Given we were down 3 nil at half time this was quite a come back. I thank all involved. School Socks I remind all that the correct school socks are on sale in our Uniform Shop and our office. I would greatly appreciate full compliance to our uniform code. Stage 2 Camp I visited the campers last Wednesday evening and was very impressed with the venue and the activities. The camp owners made very complimentary comments regarding the standards of our children. These are great complements to us as these people see many many schools

2012 Enrolments Should you have children or know of families with children seeking to enrol here in 2012 could you please take steps to have the office informed. Places here are quite sought after and I need to ensure those in our zone are accommodated. Literacy & Numeracy Week This week is Literacy and Numeracy Week. I would argue every week at Hillsborough Public School is a Literacy & Numeracy Week. Thank you to those who were able to come along today and be involved in the activities. Fathers Day Stall This is again something we can all support. The P&C will hold this on TOMORROW 1st September and all gifts will be $5. You will see more information further in this publication. FACEBOOK From my knowledge of this thing there is a minimum age for those involved of 14. Clearly no primary children should be involved, however, it seems this rule is easily bypassed. While I realise it is not my business if some parents allow their children to be involved HOWEVER I do stress that using this to cause upset to other students at our school will not be tolerated and will be treated as seriously as we treat any other form of aggressive behaviour. ASSEMBLY Assemblies this year are on a fortnightly basis on a Tuesday at 2.15 in the hall. The next assembly will be Tuesday 7th September. Parents are welcome to attend. The class item will be performed by KM.

Literacy and Numeracy Week This year we will take part in national activities to celebrate Literacy and Numeracy Week (Week 7).

For Literacy, we will participate in ‘Read for Australia’. This will occur on Wednesday 31st August at 2:15pm. Parents are invited to attend their child’s class as families and communities across Australia all read together. Students and parents may like to bring a book from home, or share in the wonderful books here at school.

For Numeracy, we will be participating in a national survey for Reach for the Stars. This will involve teachers and students, during Week 7, around Australia completing a census-like collection of data about their classrooms, focusing on area and length.

“Hit Nitz 4 6” Organic Head Lice Lotion and Spray We have heard about a new product on the market for Head Lice and have purchased a few bottles. They are available in the office for $15 per bottle. There is a “Once Off Lotion” (for when head lice are present) and a “Daily Control Spray”. More information is included further in this publication.

CANTEEN NEWS The canteen is CLOSED every MONDAY and WEDNESDAY.

New volunteers are always welcome. Ideally, we would like to have 3 volunteers on a Thursday and Friday as these are our busiest days so if anyone can help out, please let me know. No experience necessary....just an opportunity to be involved in your child's school. The canteen raises a great deal of funds so please consider becoming a volunteer, or sending along a grandparent, aunt, uncle, friend or neighbour!!!
