The master plan rendering shown is one of my first projects. It is graphite only, and the premise of the assignment was to render the plan by exploring numerous plant symbols.

In this assignment, we were told to give the University of Georgia Ecology Build-ing’s courtyard a facelift. The Ecol-ogy Building (pictured right) is found on south campus, nestled into an area of the campus that is covered rather heavily by plant material. The bare courtyard located in the middle of the building is woefully maintained, so the transition from the surrounding area into the courtyard is rather jarring. In my design, I attempted to incorporate as much of the existing plant life as possi-ble. The main focus of the redesign was to create outdoor rooms with different functions.

[ Neotraditional Development ]

This neotraditional development design was influenced by Hambersham, SC, which is also a neotraditional design and where the im-ages to the right were taken. The aim of this design was to provide housing for multiple incomes and a centralized area of stores. These stores could include a variety of dif-ferent services. Ideally, day to day shopping would all be able to be done in this area, for the convenience of the residents. The south-east portion of this property is covered in marsh with a fair amount of standing water, so the deck was added to provide an area close to the water for gatherings.

[ Jekyll Island Golf Course ]

Screening was added to block unwanted views.

In this group project, we were given this small retention pond in an area of very high visablility on Jekyll Island. We were asked to make the pond more visu-ally pleasing. We decided to reshape the pond’s shape, dress up the edge with plant-ings and install a weir to cycle water. In addition to these things we made it a stag-ing station for the first hole of the golf course, which is located only 20 feet away.
