Presidents Message
Hello Friends,
I hope everyone made it home safely from our last meeting. The weather did get a
little rough later in the evening where I live.
Thank you to the Refreshment Committee: Pat McMillian, Eileen Heinen Carolyn
Jones, Janice Conder, Margot Van Lengen, Patty Pruitt, Darlene Chenault, Judy Apple-
gate and Martha Claycomb. It was a very nice meal.
I would like to thank Patty Pruitt for the video/presentation/handout on Schmetz nee-
dles. It will be very helpful selecting the correct needle for each project. I especially
liked the “app” we can download to our phones to use when we are purchasing nee-
dles or trying to decide which needle to use.
I would also like to thank Donetta Faulkner-Elmore for Chairing our Nomination Com-
mittee. The following were voted in by our membership at the April meeting: Sharon
Whitfield 1st Vice President (2 year term), Martha Brooks 2nd Vice President (1 year
term) and Barbara Jeffries Secretary (2 year term). Thank you all for giving you time to
the club by accepting the positions.
We had our monthly Quilt Show meeting and things are moving right along. During
our June meeting we will begin asking for your help to make this year’s show a suc-
cess. The quilt show meetings are being held at the Extension office, Project room.
The next meeting is June 20th at 6:00. All are welcome! We met Friday April 29th in
the Project room to put the Opportunity Quilt top together. Thank you to all the
members who completed a block for the quilt. The top was completed by Peggy
Brown, Jim Savoy, Ginger Sharp, Patty Pruitt, Kelly Pruitt, Teresa Jenkins, Lynda Griffin

It’s that time of the year again when I’m
starting to beg, plead, and grovel for donations
for the Country Store . . .
You’ve all done such a great job in the past by contributing tons of yard goods and
sewing accoutrements for us to sell—and, as you know, we sell most of it, too! We
always get questions as to what items we accept, so if you’re planning to do a
sweep of that sewing room with an eye towards ‘gifting’ the Country Store, here’s a
list of ideas to help you:
Please keep in mind that we cannot sell photocopied patterns/materials—only origi-
nals! If you have a binder full of patterns that have been photocopied from a copy-
righted pattern or magazine/book, we will have to throw them away. We cannot
give them away, either. We do not sell clothes except for items that are quilting re-
lated, i.e., jackets made from old quilts, t-shirts with quilting/crafting sayings, ap-
pliqued baby bibs, etc. If it’s in your sewing room, chances are that we’ll take it.
Please feel free to email me at [email protected]. if you’re in doubt about
an item. Many thanks for helping to make the Country Store a success!
