Who~parents or house owner and elderly who may forget
What~the problem that arises in our house is that we forget to put the bins out on the correct day. Even when we
remember the right day, we usually put the wrong bin out!
When~the night before the bins go out or when you come to take the rubbish out
Where~the place that your bins are stored in your house
Why~so that people don’t forget to take the bins out
![Page 3: STOC PowerPoint](https://reader033.vdocuments.net/reader033/viewer/2022061221/54bfb0364a79592b608b4699/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
Problem statement:
People often have trouble remembering when to put out their bins. When the remember, they often put out the wrong bin as recycled rubbish is collect on a different day to general rubbish. People are also unaware of what items can and
can’t be recycled.

Do residents know when their bins get collected?
Do residents know what items are permitted to go into each type of bin?
Is there a place where recyclers can get used materials and resources?
![Page 5: STOC PowerPoint](https://reader033.vdocuments.net/reader033/viewer/2022061221/54bfb0364a79592b608b4699/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Do residents know when their bins get collected?Yes, but most people surveyed admit that they are forgetful and often forget which bins should go out on each day. We plan to provide an alarm that will be activated
the day before your bins will get collected. There will be a colour coded calendar if you want to check bin collection days.
Do residents know what items are permitted to go into each type of bin?Our research shows us that most people have a good idea of what items can and can’t be recycled. The often have queries though about which
colour bin they should be placed in.
Is there a place where recyclers can get used materials and resources? The freecycle website is a very good source, but we hope that users will
be able to post items that can be delivered locally by some refuge companies. Creating a social network to encourage recycling.

Our app is different to other apps on the market because it advises users what to put in each bin. It will also cover the
whole country rather than just an isolated area.
Perhaps the biggest difference is the ability of users to interact with each other and recycle, therefore reducing waste and creating a sense of community through social
networking.

We think that this app is feasible to produce. We will use a database
to record users records and information regarding bin timetables. Many of the other features should already exist on modern day
mobiles and tablets… i.e. alarms the night before the bins are due for collection.

App Design Mock-upOur marketing strategy will be in three parts:1. Giving the app out free with the annual bins
timetable from the council2. Youtube channel to show how the app works and
the benefits of recycling using the app3. Social Media networking – sharing information
about the app campaign via facebook, LInkedIn and Twitter.
