Cinematography/Camera

Establishing shot- to start the scene-the bright side of Compton wide shot to let the audience view where they live.Birds Eye View- of Dr Dre lying down on the bed with Headphones on, showing all the records lay next to him.Wide Shot- showing the living room and how it’s a mess whilst there’s a baby there-implies that it’s not safe for a baby to live in.Behind the Shoulder shot- walking towards a trailer home- connotes they don’t particularly live in a very wealthy environment.Over the Shoulder shot- Ice Cube writing down lyrics- that’s their hobby to get them out oftrouble- stereotyped as what society expected in the 80’s.

Sound and Lighting

Non-Diegetic sound- of an NWA sound track whilst it shows a shot of young Dr Dre lying on the bed.Sound Effect- when the police officer pushed Ice Cube down to show the impact on howhard they pushed him down.Low Key Lighting- to show how dark and violent things really are.Natural Lighting- at the start to show a fore shadowing event in the future.Diegetic Sound- of Eazy E rapping the line- implies that’s what he’s good at or his talent.

Editing

Fades to black- it shows all the good side of Compton and the fade indicates there’s another side to Compton- a ‘bad side.’Slow Cuts- showing a snippets of different characters in the film- to introduce all thecharacters.Jump Cuts- snippets of what it was being like in NWA- the good and bad side aboutfame.Zooms into the face- Ice Cube doing something he shouldn’t be judging by his face.

Mise En SceneProps- records by the side of him to imply he loves music or is a bug fan ofmusic.- Has headphones attached into the record player- to show it’s set in the 80’s.- Female holding a gun- so it wasn’t only males into crime, females also joined

in.Facial Expressions- wasn’t surprised so was quite used to it- connotes they grew up ina rough environment where everyone expected everyone to have or hold a gun.Framing- of the manager and the police officer is pretty close- police have more authority even though the managers earning a lot more.
