Why there some people who think/see/view Richard as a foe?

Abner and Harry who totally think Richard is a foes.

It is because Richard always cares about the Schermers such as Richard signs the card but his classmates don`t . Gus also thinks it is a fool thing to do. He put his trust on the Schermers even though the people never do that . For example,Richard tries to be brave when he wants to send the card to Hannah.

They treat Hannah as a foe because her parents are German. But they didn’t know Hannah and his brother were born in America.

• Richard is someone who sees Hannah as a friend.

Richard likes to be her friend and be closer to Hannah because for him Hannah is a quiet person and a kind girl.

• This is because Richard sent his poem to Mr. Kilmer. After a few days later, he got a replied letter from Mr.Kilmer. It makes his relationship become closer to Mr.Kilmer when he starts to exchange the letters with Mr.Kilmer.

• Friend : a person who you like and enjoy being with a person who helps or support someone or something

• Foe : an enemy or opponent
