1. MISSION OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ZENICA

The mission of UNZE is based on tree essential components of higher education:♦ lecturing - scientific (educational) work and♦ scientific – research-innovative work♦ service of the community.

These tree components of higher education are mutually dependent, but, for easiercomprehension and control of managing processes at the university, they can bedecomposed in the following way:decomposed in the following way:Education, both through the curriculum and through the research process, of high quality,young professionals (students), but also the adults, in all areas of teaching that exist atthe university, so that they can be productive in their current and future activities,continuous monitoring and improvement of scientific, research and innovative work at theuniversity, training (education) and the inclusion of a great number of young people(assistants and other young) in this process, linking the university with the environment,economic and cultural events,eco o c a d cu tu a e e ts,service to the narrower and broader community through continuous contribution invarious fields of management, constantly being guided by the highest internationalstandards of excellence in every area.

2. VISION OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ZENICA

The UNZE vision is to become a modern and recognized institution of highereducation, included in a joint academic area of Europe and the world.By this vision UNZE should become an optimally sized, flexible university until theyear 2014, with 10-12 members (organizational units: faculties, institutes, etc.),which will give a 20-30 type of diploma (courses) and have 6000-8000 students whowill live and work in several functional campuses.The purpose of higher education and scientific-research work in Zenica through the formThe purpose of higher education and scientific research work in Zenica, through the formand organizational structure of UNZE, is that it utilizes, in a previously organized andstructured manner, available resources and focus future activities on the plan ofdevelopment of the teaching-scientific activities (education) and scientific - researchwork Moreover in this manner it is possible to optimally use all cited resources inwork. 3. STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

The strategic objective of higher education and scientific-research work in ZE - DOCanton is the development of UNZE. This goal will be possible to achieve by therealization of a series of individual tasks (sub - tasks), of which the most importantare:The purpose of higher education and scientific-research work in Zenica, through the formand organizational structure of UNZE, is that it utilizes, in a previously organized andstructured manner, available resources and focus future activities on the plan ofdevelopment of the teaching-scientific activities (education) and scientific -research work. STRATEGIC OBJECTIVESConsolidation and more rational use of available resources in the field of higher education andConsolidation and more rational use of available resources in the field of higher education andscientific-research work (personnel, facilities, laboratories, libraries, etc.);Optimal schedule of personnel in the performance of the teaching process and realization ofscientific-research and development and research projects, which raises the quality of teachingand ensure efficiency in the research;and ensure efficiency in the research;Creating the conditions, by consolidation of staff and research labs, for forming scientific and researchunits (institutions or groups) in accordance with the ZE-DO Canton Law on Scientific-ResearchActivity. This is the most efficient way to create a so-called critical mass of personnel and knowledge,which can successfully and competently resolve a wide range of issues related to economic and socialy p y gdevelopment of the region. STRATEGIC OBJECTIVESSignificant increase of including the young generation in the university education, because theexisting percentage in B&H (about 15-20% of graduated from secondary schools continue tostudy) is absolutely unacceptable. In this way, raises the knowledge level of the young generationthat is coming and who will thus be a generator of ideas and development;Developing the university and other forms of scientific and technical cooperation with the institutionsin B&H and in the world, through various forms: joint projects, exchanges, study visits,conferences, seminars and other forms of co-operation. In this way most efficient transfer is doneof information, technology, knowledge and experience and all this is aimed to the development of ownstaff and local firms and institutions;staff and local firms and institutions;Assembling at UNZE the human resources of best quality, most professional and experienced, butalso most talented young people, and then organizing their further education, specialization andtraining to resolve the problems from the broadest spectrum, especially new technologies andproducts.
