Connection to Superintendent’s GoalsDuring the 2017‐18 school year, the Superintendent will:• Review monthly the academic progress of 100% of the schools that did not reach full accreditation based on 2016‐17 test results (Measure 1.1.1).

• Monitor the implementation and impact of the instructional coaches at targeted schools and will utilize a comprehensive program evaluation to result in concrete recommendations for improving teaching and learning at those schools (Measure 1.1.1).

Connection to Superintendent’s GoalsDuring the 2017‐18 school year, the Superintendent will:• Collaboratively develop measurable improvement targets in core content areas for 100% of schools, based on their performance during 2016‐17 (Measures 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.3).

• Ensure that schools increase the pass rates for students with disabilities in reading and mathematics by at least 5% from 2017 to 2018 (Measure 1.1.2).

Connection to Superintendent’s GoalsDuring the 2016‐17 school year, the Superintendent will:• Ensure that K‐12 building leadership has resources necessary to provide transitional opportunities for students from elementary to middle and middle to high school so that the 2017 On‐Time Graduation Rate will meet or exceed 91.8%, as reported by VDOE.

Strategic Measure 1.1.9College Readiness

• The College Board published new college readiness benchmarks based on the new SAT:• Evidence‐based Reading and Writing (480) – 84.8% of seniors who took the SAT achieved this score

• Mathematics (530) – 58.9% of seniors who took the SAT achieved this score

• Additional information about college readiness as defined by using the criteria established by the Virginia Community College System on placement tests will be included in the November 1 presentation.

Strategic Measures 1.2.3 and 1.2.4Equitable Access to Fine and Performing Arts/Application of Technology

• 96.5% percent of parents indicated satisfaction with the elementary strings program in spring 2017.

• PWCS continues to focus on the scheduling of arts classes at all levels.• Students are provided with opportunities to apply technology effectively to gain knowledge, develop skills, and create and disseminate products that reflect their understanding.

• Focus on monitoring and ensuring high quality differentiated standards‐based first instruction in all classes and for all students.

• Focus on enhancing and improving aligned services and support to students with disabilities.

• Focus on expanding talent development in all students with a special focus at the elementary level.

• Focus on reducing exclusionary discipline for all students, especially students with disabilities and minority students.

• Focus on achieving our 20/20 Vision for all students through our Portrait of a Virginia Graduate Task Force.
