Doc delivers baby still in Amniotic sac. Would abortion still be OK? Jill Stanek, Washington, LifeSite News, 4/3/13

A Greek doctor posted this incredible picture on his Facebook page of a baby he delivered. And as you can see… it was no ordinary delivery. The baby was delivered via c-section, but was still inside the amniotic sac after being removed from the mother’s body. In fact, according to Dr. Aris Tsigris, the OB/GYN in charge of this delivery, the baby does not even know that it has been born yet. Most sacs break on their own or are broken by the doctor when a woman is ready to give birth. This is known as a woman’s “water breaking.” It is extremely rare for a baby to be born with the sac still completely intact. However, although it is rare, it is not dangerous. Dr. Tsigris informs us that the baby will not drown inside the bag because it is feeding off the placenta. The baby will automatically start to breathe on its own once the bag is broken. The doctor admits however that he was left “breathless” by the sight of this baby…. The… baby thinks it’s still in the womb and is therefore living as peacefully as when it was in its mother’s uterus. This baby was still connected to his or her mother by the umbilical cord to the placenta. The baby had not drawn a breath. Would abortion proponents say it was still ethically/legally acceptable to kill this baby? There are certainly some pro-abortion activists who would argue yes. Had her pregnancy officially terminated? I think they would argue no. After all, Planned Parenthood lobbyist Alisa LaPolt Snow argued during a Florida legislative hearing last week that born babies who were showing signs of life could still be killed according to the whim of the mother. And the baby in the photo above wasn’t technically yet born. There is also what is called a hysterotomy abortion, wherein an incision is made into the uterus, such as in a c-section, but either the amniotic fluid is ruptured and the baby is drowned before removal, or the cord is cut and the baby bleeds to death before removal, or the baby is removed alive and discarded or killed outright. I am sure there are abortion proponents who would argue this baby was still hysterotomy abortion candidate.

LifeNews.com Note: Jill Stanek fought to stop “live birth abortions” after witnessing one as an RN at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois. That led to the Born Alive Infants Protection Act legislation, signed by President Bush, that would ensure that proper medical care be given to unborn children who survive botched abortion attempts.

Abortion/Breast Cancer Link? Stratford and District Right to Life presents the following article. Too many families are affected by this devastating illness. There are many risk factors that increase the chance of developing breast cancer. Abortion may be one of those risk factors.

INDIAN STUDY: ABORTION RAISES BREAST CANCER RISK OVER 6-FOLD MANIPAL, India, July 2, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A study published in the Indian Journal of Community Medicine (May, 2013) found a 6.38-fold greater risk of breast cancer among Indian women with histories of induced abortion. Study leader Ramchandra Kamath of the Department of Public Health, Manipal University, observed that India has the “largest estimated number of breast cancer deaths worldwide,” and that breast cancer ranks second only to cervical cancer as the most common diagnosed malignancy among Indian women. Although the study cohort included only 188 participants (94 cases and 94 controls), which the researchers acknowledged limited the "generalisability of the findings," U.S. expert Dr. Joel Brind said the small study does strongly reconfirm that higher rates of abortion lead to increased risk of breast cancer. “With only 94 cases and 94 controls, the study was way too small for a significant risk of the order of 1.5-fold to even show up,” said Professor Brind in a statement to the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer. “Yet induced abortion did show up as the strongest risk factor (and right on the border of statistical significance) because the risk increase was so high at 6.38-fold.” Dr. Brind is a professor of endocrinology at Baruch College, City University of New York and a recognized expert in research into the links between abortion/contraception and breast cancer. Dr. Brind said he found it “troubling that the abortion-breast cancer link is now showing up big time in the world’s most populous countries where breast cancer used to be rare. That means millions upon millions of women will die from this deadly after-effect of abortion. Consider that between India and China, we're talking about over a billion women. If only 1% of them get breast cancer due to abortion, that's still 10 million women, of whom at least 2 or 3 million will die from it!” The study also reported significantly higher risk of breast cancer for the women with higher levels of education (greater than 7 to 12 years), a non vegetarian diet, age at menarche of more than 13 years, and age at first child birth more than 30 years. “Medical texts acknowledge delayed first full term pregnancy is a risk factor for breast cancer,” said Karen Malec, president of the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer. “It’s indisputable that abortion contributes to delayed first full term pregnancies; and in some cases, women remain childless forever, which is also an accepted risk factor.” The researchers also found women who had more than two children were found to have significantly lower breast cancer rates. Of the breast cancer cases in the study, 65 of the women had two or fewer children, while 27 of the women had more than two children. According to the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer, scientists have found that when a woman becomes pregnant she acquires protective cells from her child - a process called fetal cell microchimerism - that remain with her for decades, perhaps till the end of her life, and that help the mother's immune system fight off infections and disease. Researchers have also discovered that a baby’s fetal cells show up more often in a mother’s healthy breast tissue and less often in a woman who has breast cancer (43 versus 14 percent). They hypothesize that the baby’s fetal cells have a beneficent purpose: to protect, defend, and repair her for the rest of her life, especially when she becomes seriously ill. “There’s a lot of evidence now starting to come out that these cells may actually be repairing tissue,” said professor Carol Artlett, a researcher at Philadelphia’s Thomas Jefferson University. Ramchandra Kamath and his team of researchers at Manipal University concluded that their findings concurred with a 2006 Indian study, led by Manjusha Rai, that found a “significant association between abortion and breast cancer.”

PRO Life 101 How can you call a fetus a living child? The miracle of  life begins when a  living male sperm and a  living female  ovum  unite  in  the  body  of  the  female.    After  this fertilization, it is simply a matter of cell divisions, resulting in the formation  of  organs  and  tissues,  and  time  to  grow.    Living embryonic cells grow into a living fetus, which is a living child in the beginning stages of growth;  at the correct time, the child is born  and  will  continue  to  grow  from  newborn  to  infant  to adolescent to adult . All the DNA that any living person contains is  present  at  that  first moment when  ovum  and  sperm  unite (conception) and a new living person is created, so yes, a fetus is indeed a living child.

This extends to every single human being, no matter what stage of life, preborn, child, adult, and elderly. Since the dawn of Christianity, this has been understood; up to the 20th Century, that is. Discrimination and world wars trampled the Rights of whole classes of peoples. The wars were won by the “good guys”, but the “might is right” attitude is alive and flourishing. The vast majority, who are mostly silent, still live by the Golden Rule, “Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You”; but there is small group of very loud, very enraged women and men who have lobbied, bullied and screamed until they managed to overturn the basic human right to life of the unborn into a woman’s right to choose what happens in her body. (aka-licence to do whatever I want and not face the consequences) The fact that the unborn are living human beings and that many of these will grow up to be women means nothing. Their “rights” trump everyone else’s. All over the world, those in places of authority who speak up for Truth and justice and true human rights are steamrolled into submission or lose their jobs. The glaring evidence of irreparable harm done to women through abortions, birth controls and sexually related vaccines is stifled or outright denied; the fact that abortionists have become filthy rich in their grisly trade and have side stepped into killing live babies from late term abortions makes little impact. But this is not to condemn, it is a wake up call. The time is late. Already a vast majority of our next generations have been destroyed. The total damage of abortion can never be calculated. World Wars I and II came to an end; this World War on the Innocent has been raging for over 50 years with no end in sight. One cannot look the other way, abortion truly is murder, and it affects each one of us. “Whatever you do (or do not do) to the least of My brothers, that you do unto Me.” We welcome your ideas and suggestions! Stratford and District Right to Life member, Joe Van Den Houvel has shared the following suggestion: Return the questionnaires that come in the mail from local MP’s and MPP’s with a short note requesting them to support the right to life. Thanks Joe!

The following letter appeared in the Stratford Beacon Herald – we have reprinted it with the permission of the writer, Rianne Ropps

Dear Editor:

There has been much talk about same-sex marriage in Stratford recently. And, although writing about such a controversial topic is like willingly walking into a field of landmines, I need to respond. This isn’t a letter of aggression, but of a desperate desire to bring clarity. After hearing the Catholic stance on same-sex marriage, people have concluded that Catholics hate gay people. Is this true? No. The Church calls us to love all people. Persecution is entirely against the teachings of the Catholic Church. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states: “…They [with same-sex attraction] must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided…” (CCC 2358). Unfortunately, there are some labelled as ‘Catholic’ who continue homophobic persecution. Realize that these are people and not the Church; people can be hypocritical, but truth cannot. So if the Catholic Church defends the dignity of all people, why don’t we support same-sex marriage? Ok. The thing is: it’s not about the ‘gay’; it’s about the ‘marriage’. Therefore, the key question here is: what is marriage? If marriage is simply a civil agreement to cohabitate and exclusively date until death do you part, then gay marriage would be possible. However, what you need to understand about the Catholic Church is that marriage is regarded as a sacrament. This is a sacred thing; not to be taken lightly, because it's that precious! Marriage creates a family. The creation of family is the most accurate earthly representation of God: God, in His solitude, is a family (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). “When a man and a woman become one in marriage, in a mysterious way, it reveals the unity shared by the Father and the Son (Jn. 17:22-23). As the infinitely loving bond between the Father and Son constitutes the Third Person of the Trinity, so in a similar way, a child embodies the love of a husband and wife. That is why the Church teaches that marriage is a communion of life and love ordered toward the good of the couple and the procreation and education of children, and that there is an unbreakable bond between the ‘love-giving’ and’ life-giving’ aspects of marital love” (CCC 1660, 2366).” For the sacrament of marriage to exist, both ‘love-giving’ and ‘life-giving’ aspects must be present. If one is missing, the marriage isn’t disallowed; it’s impossible. Think of this: no matter how hard one tries, one could never use their hands to lift both their feet off the ground; it goes against the nature’s laws. In the same way, trying to form a marriage lacking love-giving or life-giving simply cannot spiritually/logistically exist. This is why the Church doesn’t support same-sex marriage: it lacks potential of new life (‘life-giving’). It’s not that we want to keep this sacrament from homosexuals; it’s just logistically impossible. This logic isn’t applied only to homosexual couples (that would be persecution), but to all couples seeking marriage. Rianne Rops, Mitchell
