Pandemic EBT Programo While schools are closed due to COVID-19, families with children age 5-18 who

received free or reduced-priced meals from August 2019-May 2020 will receive up to $291 per child in Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) benefits to purchase food. This benefit is in addition to any other services families are currently receiving.

o You are eligible if your child would receive free or reduced-price meals if schools were open. This includes a child who attends a school that offers free school meals to all students. These households are eligible to receive a benefit to help them buy food for their children.

Purpose of the Health Care/Emergency Worker Support Bonus

• This one-time bonus is to provide recognition to child care providers and elevate the importance of ensuring that child care options are available to the health care and emergency workforce in Kansas.

• Due to the increased risk of exposure to COVID-19 by caring for children of workers (parents/legal guardians) on the frontlines, a bonus acknowledges the additional protective measures needed to ensure a child care provider can meet the demand of a healthy and safe environment.

How much are the Supply and Sustainability Grant award totals? The Hero Relief Program Grant award totals will vary depending on license type, licensed capacity and status (open or temporarily

closed) of licensed child care programs.

Revenue Replacement Grants

Purpose: Provide financial assistance to DCF enrolled child care providers and relative providers who have identifiable lost revenue in subsidy payments due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

• These grant recipients are pre-determined for eligibility by DCF each month.

• The amount to be paid to the provider is also pre-determined.

Family PreservationWhat is Family Preservation

• Family Preservation is a voluntary service provided to families with a child at risk of entering foster care.

• Family Preservation will provide in-home services, with the goal of keeping the family together.

• Family Preservation may also serve pregnant women using substances, to help the mother find and maintain substance use treatment.

• Evidence-based assessments and case planning

• Services are available in all 105 Kansas counties.

Tier ModelFamily Preservation

Families and DCF staff will choose a tier of services to best meet the family needs

Tier 1 will be intensive in-home services provided by a master’s level practitioner for up to six weeks. Example: A pregnant woman using alcohol and/or substances during pregnancy or a family whose infant is born substance-exposed or substance-affected

Tier 2 will be short-term case management services, provided by a case manager and a family support worker, for three to six months. Example: A family lacks adequate parenting skills to care for a child with difficult behavior at home or school, placing that child at risk for out of home placement or in-patient mental health treatment without services
