Headteacher’s Message:
May I wish a Happy Easter to families celebrating in the Spring break, also a happy New Year to
families celebrating the Persian New Year in March. Best wishes also to our families celebrating
Vaisakhi and the birth of Guru Nanak in April and to families celebrating Rama Navami.
Thank you to parents who are supporting their children by attending parent’s evenings. These
meetings are important opportunities for us to work together to ensure your children make
progress with their learning. If parents have suggestions as to how we can improve reports and
parents consultation evenings, I would be delighted to speak with you or receive your emails via
The school has been busy with activities and visits both locally and abroad. We hosted an event
last week where children from Belgium, France, Spain, Iceland and Portugal visited Stretford High
with their teachers. The visitors joined lessons and met a number of our students, making many
new friendships. We hope to travel to Portugal in January 2014 for a similar visit.
The annual Year 7 international visit to Rome took place
last week. Year 7students ( pictured ) visited the Coliseum
and were also present in St Peter's square in the Vatican
City on Sunday March 17th to hear the new Pope's first
speech. Seven student teams also recently competed in
the Youth Philanthropy Initiative, where they had to
research a charity and pitch for prize money of £3000.
Leading local figures were on the judging panel and the
winning group gave the best pitch to win £3000 for the
worthy charity 'Destination Florida', a charity for
terminally ill children.
