CENTURY GLOBAL
WORKFORCE:
Resilient, creative
independent learners
who have flexible skills
and competences, who
work well in teams and
can lead themselves and
others to perform up to
and beyond their
potential.
If you are planning a Fundraising event, please check with Mrs Collinge before you go ahead.
For example, this could be:
An assembly you organise that raises awareness of a charity or issue that is important to you. You must do this with a team that you create and manage.
OR A charity event that you organise that is successful. For it to be successful
you will need to demonstrate that you have raised money and raised awareness of your chosen charity (eg. car wash, supermarket bag packing, cake sale etc)
OR Any other team event or your own choice that benefits our local or global
community OR
The Giving Nation project in the summer term in which you raise awareness or money for a charity. This will automatically enable you to get this STRIPE signed off. Speak to Mrs Asling for more details!
Skills you will need to show evidence of:
Financial capability Decision making
Taking calculated risks Perseverance
Using your initiative Negotiating
Controlling and leading a team
ORGANISE AN EVENT IN OR OUT OF SCHOOL THAT DEMONSTRATES GOLD QUALITIES.
To get your TEAMWORK & PARTICIPATOR
GOLD
you need to...
DO A DETAILED STRIPES SELF ASSESSMENT (IN THIS FOLDER) AT THE START
OF THE GOLD AWARD AND AT THE END. YOU NEED TO SET PERSONAL
TARGETS AFTER YOUR FIRST SELF ASSESSMENT AND THEN MAKE A NOTE OF
WHEN YOU HAVE MET THEM. TO COMPLETE YOUR GOLD AWARD YOU
MUST DO THE SAME EXERCISE AGAIN TO MEASURE YOUR OWN PROGRESS.
NB: Speak to Mrs Plece about how Cascaid can help you with this.
www.cascaid.co.uk
Ways of doing this:
Complete the questionnaire with someone who knows you well, and talk through your responses with them
Photocopy the questionnaire and then ask a friend/family member to do the questionnaire about you. Then after you have done your own version, sit down together and COMPARE your own ideas about yourself with how someone else sees you. What do you notice?
When you have ticked your boxes for the first time, get it copied and enlarge it and pin it up somewhere in your bedroom so you can REFLECT everyday on your strengths and targets to keep them fresh in your mind
When you are completing your GOLD award, keep adding to the evidence in your folder of all the things you are doing that are helping you get better all the time.
To get your REFLECTIVE LEARNER

If you achieve your Arts Award,
you automatically qualify for a GOLD Stripe
(if you have already obtained your Bronze & Silver)
Arts Award - GOLD Fast-track
Arts Award - Bronze Certificates – GOLD STRIPE
You have to complete 4 different parts of the Award to achieve a bronze certificate. You can achieve this in either Art, Dance, Music or Creative Writing.
1) Heroes and Heroines - Research on Artist or performer – someone you admire For Art - You have to produce a Sketchbook Research and Powerpoint presentation on a chosen Artist. For other Disciplines – eg A talk, or any other presentation is admissible – to an audience with questions and answers.
To produce the work you have to: Research an Artist independently Self manage your time. Review and reflect on your practice. You need to show creativity, imagination in your layout and design and experimentation
in the media and materials you use 2) Explore the Arts as an audience member - a visit to an Exhibition, gallery or museum,
concert, production, gig, talk To complete this part students need to: Visit an exhibition either arranged by the school or on your own. Some students choose
to interview local Artists. Whilst at the exhibition you would be expected to take notes/ drawings and
photographs on the experience. You need to review and reflect on the visit in your sketchbooks For other Disciplines – keep evidence to show attendance eg programme, ticket, poster etc. Following the event, write a review and discuss, share your reactions with others.
3) Explore the Arts as a participant –
For Art - (Year 8 Arts award day - Workshop in school) Students will work in Teams over the course of the day to produce a large piece of
Artwork to be displayed around the school. Workshop would be lead by Mr Heath or a local Artist - possibly a willow workshop with some permanent structures
You need to review and reflect on the workshop in your sketchbooks after the days work
For other Disciplines – taking part – set yourself a challenge within your discipline – this could be starting a new instrument, learning a new dance, taking on a bigger role etc. You will need to keep a diary of your progress and reflect throughout.
4) Arts apprenticeship
For Art - Sharing skills learnt in your Research Study with other students You have to share your knowledge of the Artist you have studied with a small group of students. This could take the form of: A formal Powerpoint presentation An activity for the small group to engage in for the length of the lesson You need to review and reflect on your performance in your sketchbooks after the
lesson. For other Disciplines – sharing your skills may mean supporting your teacher or leading a workshop in your chosen skill eg helping with a drama workshop for Chinese students or teaching a small group how to play a musical instrument or devise some performance poetry. Whatever section you are undertaking you must be self disciplined, reflect on your responses and share your thoughts.
