What’s new this fall?• Elementary schools become K – 5 sites• Sixth grade moves to middle school, strengthening
student/teacher relationships• New Community School Zones ensure families have the
best chance of getting into their community schools • All SPPS buildings are now open, including four formerly
closed buildings

• More observations, evaluations, and performance reviews were conducted than in recent years past (8,000 classroom observations, 943 performance reviews)
Monitoring & Reporting
• District Action Teams (DAT) provided input on SSSC• SSSC progress is tracked through 8 vision cards
Student Performance is Improving

• Graduation rates are up 10 percentage points since 2008– American Indian students up 15 percentage points– Latino students up 17 percentage points
• Drop out rate is down 10% since 2011• MCA test scores are up 9 percentage points since 2006• Post-secondary enrollment is up 7% since 2007• Suspensions are down 30% since last year

– Incremental gains seen in proficiency– Racial disparities in achievement persist
• Ensuring families are aware of changes– Working to support families transitioning schools due to school choice
changes– Supporting families at transition grades (PK/K, middle school and high
