Why we doWhat we do!

I’m often asked why we do what we do. It’s a great question.

The simple answer lies in our belief that more people making more music makes the world a better place.

We believe that music education is an essential part of a child’s development. Through innovative use of modern materials and manufacturing methods wecreate instruments that are more accessible, more suitable and more fun. At the same time we retain the musical authenticity of traditional instruments.

Our goal is for our instruments to perform perfectly in the classroom, on the marching field, in the concert hall, at the beach or even in the swimming pool!

We at Nuvo are always available to answer any ques-tions and we love to hear about new and fun ways people are using our instruments.

Soprano RecorderNuvo Soprano Recorders have a modern look and feel which appeals to children. They have a resonant tone and are available in white with three color options to brighten up your recorder ensembles. Also available in black with gray trim.

The 3 rubber rings on the bell can be removed and then used as a reward system as children pass learning milestones.

Nuvo Recorders are 100% waterproof so they can be washed frequently with warm soapy water. Each recorder includes a case and a fingering chart.

jFluteThe Nuvo jFlute has a surprisingly loud and pleasant tone. It is lightweight, durable and features an ea-sy-blowing lip plate…the perfect choice for a child’s first flute. Suitable for ages 4 to10 years.The jFlute also features a curved head joint, key exten-sions and is upgradable to a straight head flute when the student is ready. See jFlute Upgrade Kit.

The jFlute kit includes the Firstnote lip plate, a recor-der-like fipple to encourage students in the first few lessons.The jFlute is 100% waterproof so it can be washed frequently and won’t get damaged if played outside in the rain.

Kristy Kirsh holds a master’s degree in music and teaches private and group flute lessons to students from age 5- 95. She works with students of all levels including those with learning disabilities.

ClarinéoThe Nuvo Clarinéo is a clarinet in the key of C which is ideal for young starters ages 4 to10 years. It is much lighter and smaller than a Bb clarinet which means the finger stretches are shorter and the tone holes smal-ler; great for small fingers! When the student is ready, the transition to Bb clarinet is seamless.

The Clarinéo has a rich, mellow tone and can play from any score in the key of C such as recorder, piano, flute and voice music. This makes it particularly useful for elementary general music programs.Two synthetic Nuvo reeds and a cane reed are provi-ded. There is an optional Starter Pack which includes the First Steps tutor book, an instructional DVD and a CD with backing tracks

The single instrument wall hanger can be easily fixed to a wall, door or shelf using 4 screws or double sided tape. Suitable for the Nuvo Student Flute, jFlute or Clarinéo.

Nuvo Wall Hanger

Nuvo synthetic Clarinéo reeds will last up to 10 times longer than tradi-tional cane reeds. They feature a locating rib that helps the student to correctly position the reed each time. They are perfect for beginners and roughly equivalent to a 1½ cane reed.

Flute AccessoriesThe Nuvo Flute range has been designed to allow a student to start as early as 4 years old and keep the instrument for life. There are a number of useful accessories included with the instrument and optional accessories shown on the following pages.

The jFlute Upgrade Kit includes a straight head joint and a C foot joint. It also includes a replacement fitting for the jFlute case. This means that a student who has been using the jFlute can now upgrade to the Student Flute without buying a whole new instru-ment. Available in black or white.

The curved head joint is a useful ac-cessory for a young starter who wants to play the Student Flute but may have some difficulty with the stretch in the early days. Available in black or white.

This neat accessory is a full set of colored caps which can be used to de-corate and personalize a Nuvo Flute. The caps can also be used to mark the touch keys which is particularly useful in the early days of learning. The caps are assembled using the tool provided with a simple twist to secure them.

Nuvo Spares KitThe spares kits have been developed to enable a tea-cher or dealer to keep a range of spare parts which may sometimes get misplaced or need replacing. All Nuvo instruments can be repaired and maintained by someo-ne with reasonable mechanical skills but not necessa-rily with years of experience in repairing instruments.

The keys for the Nuvo Flute and Clarinéo snap on and off and for the Flute, small adjustments can be made using the screwdriver provided with each instrument.

There is a section on the Nuvo website called repairs and maintenance. There are a number of PDF’s exp-laining some of the simple steps to dismantling and repairing our instruments.

Scholl StorageA number of schools we have been working with run classes for groups ofchildren where the children do not own the instruments. A full set of instruments is kept in the classroom and the children arrive at class and pick up an instrument to be used for that class. It saves a lot of time at the beginning and end of class if the instruments are kept out of cases and on storage racks.

Mouthpieces and head joints are usually removed from the instruments and disinfected between classes or in some cases the children own their personal mouth-piece or head joint which they bring to class.
