- Respect all faculty staff and other students

- Contribute actively to the sessions

- Respect your surroundings and the facilities of the host college

- Read the programme regulations and abide by them.

In turn, our faculty and Think Education are looking forward to spend an engaging, intensive and

academically rewarding time with you. Our faculty think of themselves and their students as a

community of learning.

Transcript requirements

Students need to attend 80% of classes in order to receive a transcript. Assignments must be submitted

within the submission deadline given by your tutor.

Illness

If you fall ill and cannot attend class, contact your course faculty and [email protected]

immediately to register your absence. Your course faculty email can be found on the KEATS space.

the teaching time of the module is at the faculty’s discretion. Deferral beyond the end of the teaching

time for each Summer School Delhi module is not possible.

Misconduct

In all misconduct proceedings a student will be presumed to be innocent of the allegation or charge until

the contrary is proved on the balance of probabilities. Students are expected to maintain good conduct

at all times whilst on their course or in any Summer School activities. Penalties can range from a

warning to an expulsion from the Summer School. Decisions are taken in conjunction between Think

Deadlines:

The tutor will set the assignment deadline for your course. Submitting past the deadline may be grounds

for failing the course. It will always be before the final Thursday of the fourth week. Your tutor may set

a deadline earlier than this;

Plagiarism:

We use a system called ‘Turnitin’ on KEATS to test assignments for plagiarism.

A guide to testing your coursework on Turnitin can be found below and further information on

plagiarism.

Originality report TurnitIn will return something called an originality report. This tells us how much of your essay has

been taken directly from other sources. We do not take this report by itself as a sign that an essay has

been plagiarized. You can see how your assignment will score on the test assignment. Please see below

for more information about plagiarism below. More information about this and plagiarism can be found

on KEATS.

We encourage you to use TurnItIn as a learning tool before you submit your work. For this purpose a

test assignment under the course ‘student information’ has been set up. You can test submitting an

assignment here as many times as you wish.

Marking criteria: A copy of the marking criteria that is used to mark your assignments can be found in your student

handbook.

Word count Your assignment will have a specified word count. You must not exceed this word count by 5% or

above or you may find your grade is penalized.

Programme regulations A copy of the programme regulations can be found on KEATS. Please make sure you read these

carefully.

Important Tips on writing your essay:

1. Your essay consists of an introduction, main body and conclusion.

2. In the introduction, define any terms in the title question that may need defining.

3. State the meaning of the question you are answering very clearly and concisely

and the answer that you are reaching.

4. In the body, present arguments for and against, clearly showing your view

throughout. You may quote or cite with the appropriate style of referencing, but

do not over‐indulge in this practice. Address and answer the title question

throughout. Separate paragraphs clearly, but let them be logically and linguistically

linked.

5. Your essay must lead to a logical conclusion, which must address the question and

summarise your main arguments.

6. Avoid plagiarism!!!

Plagiarism & Referencing Your tutor will give you an introduction to referencing for your assignment and plagiarism.

Please be aware that academic staff has considerable expertise in identifying plagiarism and the

software used to submit your assignment will also identify plagiarism. If your assignment is

found to be plagiarized this can be grounds to fail the course.

Please read the King’s plagiarism statement below. A copy of this can be found online at:

http://www.kcl.ac.uk/college/policyzone/assets/files/assessment/College%20statement%20o

n%20plagiarism.pdf

King’s College statement on plagiarism and related forms of cheating Plagiarism is the taking of another person’s thoughts, words, results, judgements, ideas, images, etc, and presenting them as your own.’ Plagiarism is a form of cheating and a serious academic offence. All allegations of plagiarism will be investigated and may result in action being taken. A substantiated charge of plagiarism will result in a mark of zero for the assessed work. Collusion is another form of cheating and is the unacknowledged use of material prepared by several persons working together. Students are reminded that all work that they submit as part of the requirements for any examination or assessment must be expressed in their own words and incorporate their own ideas and judgements. Direct quotations from the published or unpublished work of others, including that of other students, must always be identified as such by being placed inside quotation marks with a full reference to the source provided in the proper form. Paraphrasing – using other words to express another person’s ideas or judgements – must also be acknowledged (in a footnote or bracket following the paraphrasing) and referenced. In the same way, the authors of images and audio-visual presentations must be acknowledged. Students should take particular care to avoid plagiarism and collusion in coursework, essays and reports, especially when using electronic sources or when working in a group. Students should also take care in the use of their own work. Credit can only be given once for a particular piece of assessed work. Submitting the same piece of work (or a significant part thereof) twice for assessment will be regarded as cheating. Unacknowledged collaboration may result in a charge of plagiarism or in a charge of collusion. Students are advised to consult their course faculty on the proper presentation of work and the most appropriate way to reference sources; they are required to sign and attach a statement to each piece of work submitted for assessment indicating that they have read and understood the regulations on plagiarism.
