• This year, on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, students will once again be doing “Student-Led” Conferences.

What is student-led conferencing? Students conduct

formal conferences

with their parents to

display their

schoolwork and

discuss their own

learning, goals, and

strategies for

meeting those goals.

Students take ownership of their learning. They demonstrate increased accountability for their progress. There is tremendous power in this.

Students learn to set goals and work towards them.

Student work becomes more focused.

Students have the opportunity to develop presentation skills.

Students should play a role in selecting which pieces of work to include in their presentation.

Samples of work should then be evaluated by the students“I do this well; I struggle with….”

As students work on this, they save it to their 2nd period teacher’s workspace on the S: drive AND their H: drive. Instructions are on the PowerPoint template.

There will be a few days where students will have time in school to get help and work on their PowerPoint. However, students also need to work on this at home.
