    Introduction Student Library Management System (SLMS)

    gives us the complete information about thelibrary.

    We can enter the record of new books andretrieve the details of books available in the

    library. We can issue the books to the students and

    maintain their records and can also check howmany books are issued and stock available in thelibrary.

    Also, we can maintain the late fine of studentswho returns the issued books after the due date. The focus has been on presenting information

    and comments in a user friendly manner.

    Purpose The SLMS will replace and enhance the current capabilities

    of commercially available Library Management Systems , aswell as add new functionality.

    The purpose of this application are as follows :1.The software is for automation of library.

    2.It provides following facilities to:i. Operator- can enter details related to a particular

    book and provide membership to members.ii. User- can issue books under the supervision of the

    Operator

    iii. Administration- can read and write informationabout any member and update, create, delete therecord of membership as per requirement.

    Scope Any education institute can make use of it

    for providing information about author,content of the available books.

    It can be used in offices and modificationscan be easily done according torequirements.

    Library services, programs, and policies.1. Analyzing the Library collection and its

    use by the users.2. Analyzing branch capacity and optimal

    distribution of the collection.3. Analyzing the demographics and interests

    transactions.

    Operating Environment SLMS supports the need of a large, multiple-

    branch library system. The system mustsupport a library system with 50 locations, 20

    million circulations, purchasing andprocessing over 500,000 items per year. It is highly desirable that searches and

    reports can be processed during open hourswithout disrupting other system functions.

    SLMS shall be accessible through a Windowscompatible client.
