Student Podcast Challenge

Join the first-ever NPR Student Podcast Challenge – an opportunity for students across the country to create their own 3-12 minute podcast for a chance to have their work appear on NPR in the spring. The Challenge is aimed at students between grades 5 and 12, and Go to the site for series of suggested prompts and a guide for student podcasters and their teachers. Celebrating Excellence in Regional STEM Education

The Finger Lakes STEM Hub is pleased to announce the application for the 2019 STEM Program Awards is now OPEN! The goal of this recognition event is to honor exemplary STEM programs in our community, and to inspire others to incorporate STEM opportunities in their work with youth. Who is Eligible? Classrooms, school districts, afterschool programs and out of school informal learning or youth organizations working with school age students in STEM. Must be from the STEM Hub’s nine-county service area: Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, Wyoming and Yates Counties, that incorporate STEM education into their curriculum or programming. How to Apply? Complete the application on the Finger Lakes STEM Hub website: http://www.flxstem.org/stemrecognitionprogram Award categories are based on the NYS STEM Quality Rubric, also found on our website, and applicants self-select their program’s level of achievement in each of the 9 categories, highlighting what their program does best! Applications must be received by February 8, 2019. When is the STEM Program Awards Event? The awards dinner reception is Wednesday, May 15

th from 5-8

pm at the Rochester Museum and Science Center’s Riedman Gallery. Is There a Cost to Apply or Attend? There is no cost to apply for this recognition event. Programs selected for the 2019 STEM Program Awards will be notified by the end of March/early April. Honorees receive one complimentary ticket for the dinner reception. Additional tickets can be purchased on our website. Early bird ticket pricing is $36 per ticket through April 24

th.

Regular tickets can be purchased for $40 each April 25th

through May 8th.

They work at El Centro, a small group of safety-net clinics that offer care to all who walk through the doors, regardless of ability to pay. Amidst personal struggles that at times reflect those of their patients, the journeys of the providers unfold as they work to reach rural Americans who would otherwise be left out of the healthcare system. With intimate access, the documentary shows the transformative power of providers’ relationships with marginalized patients.

Assisting Providers of Adult Education & Workforce Development

The ACCES/WXXI Regional Adult Education Network is one of seven staff development organizations established by the New York State Education Department's Adult Education Programs and Policy (AEPP) Team to plan and deliver quality professional development and training, and effective communication links to State and federally-funded agencies providing adult literacy services below the post-secondary level. The goal of the ACCES/RAEN system is to provide research-based professional development resources to improve the skills of adult education practitioners and the quality of the adult education, family literacy and workforce development programs funded by NYSED.

Who can apply?: Classrooms, schools, districts, afterschool programs and other

informal learning programs that incorporate STEM education into their curriculum. If

you participated in the recognition program last year, you may do so again but with a

different program.
