Food and Drinks in the Classroom
Vending machines are open to students after school as long as you are not riding a school bus home. Vending machines should not be used by students during the day.
Attention 8th Grade Beta Club Members
Your typed invitation to the initiation ceremony is due on Wednesday. Also
remember to have the address including zip code when you come in
to address the envelope.
7th Graders interested in becoming a WEB Leader for the 2019-2020 school
year, please see Mrs. Jones (room 225) or
Mrs. Shaw (room 105) for an application. All
completed applications must be turned in by Friday, March 29th.
Attention 7th Graders
Gen-H, The Hungry Games II, will be held on April 26, 2019. This is a cooking competition for 4th - 8th
graders where contestants cook a healthy meal to compete for a cash prize. Entries must be submitted by
April 1, 2019.
The Regional Science Fair was held Saturday, March 23rd, at Lincoln Land Community College. Franklin Middle School was awarded five Outstanding and two First Place ribbons. All the Franklin students will be moving on to compete at the State Science Fair Competition at Southern Illinois University on May 4th. Go Falcons!!!
8th Grade: Audrey L. received an Outstanding ribbon and Mosely Consumer Science Award. Siddarth B. received an Outstanding ribbon. Nihar C. received a First Place ribbon.
7th Grade: Arya S. was the recipient of the: Outstanding ribbon
1. Naval Science Award 2. Benjamin Franklin Masonic Science Award 3. The Lemelson Early Inventor Prize Award 4. Broadcom Masters Award for placing in the top
10% of all entries Alex O. received an Outstanding ribbon and the American Psychology Association Award. Bella Y. received a First Place ribbon and the Stockholm Junior Water Prize Award. Faizaan S. received an Outstanding ribbon.

Monday: No practice
Tuesday: Scholastic bowl meet @ Athen vs Athens and Lincoln Jr. High. Bus leaves at 3:15 with the first match at 4:00. We’ll be home around 7:00 PM. This is a 1, 3 match.
Wednesday: No practice
Thursday: Scholastic bowl meet @ St. John Carrollton vs St. John Carrollton and Calhoun. Bus leaves 2:45. First match is at 4:30. We’ll be back at 8 after we eat dinner. This is a 2, 4 match.
Friday: Practice 2:30 to 4:00

6th grade Volleyball NEWS:The girls finished their season Saturday with the following scores: A Team: 21-8, 21-8, 21-14 B Team: 22-20, 21-17, 21-10. Thanks for coaching this week, Mrs. Weakley!
The girls had a great season! The A-team finished undefeated and the B- team finished with 7 wins & 1 loss. Congratulations girls! Be proud.

As a community service project, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois
invites your school to participate in our 2018-2019 POP TAB CHALLENGE! Collecting
pop tabs is a great way to teach students about the value of recycling and philanthropy, while helping to keep families together when
it matters most.
This year’s POP TAB CHALLENGE contest will run from October 1, 2018 – May 10, 2019. Prizes will be awarded to the winning school in two categories: the school that collects the
most tabs by weight and the school that collects the most tabs per student (based on
student population).
THIS Week: IAR State Testing
The announcements will be scrolling all day. Classes that are NOT testing may watch the announcements at
any time. Classes that are testing may watch announcements AFTER the test has concluded, if time
permits (and at the discretion of the teacher).
Schedules are posted throughout the halls.
IAR Reward Any removal from class DURING THE ENTIRE TESTING WINDOW (referral or buddy seat) will result in being taken OFF the IAR Reward! This includes Wednesdays!
