Once in New York City, there lived a detective named Ricky. There was a rich man called Charlie also lived in the city. One night, when Charlie was sleeping a thief entered his house and stole his money. When Charlie woke up in the morning, his wife told him to go to the market to buy things. He went to open his cupboard to take money. When he opened the cupboard he found that someone had stolen his money. He cried. When his wife heard Charlie crying, she ran to the room. She saw Charlie crying and asked him what happened. He told that someone stole their money. They decided to com-plain to the police. Charlie went to the police station. He told to the police the entire story. Then the police said, don’t worry we will find it back. The police called the detective, Ricky and told him the problem. Ricky said don’t worry I will find the mon-ey. After sometime Ricky went

RICKY THE DETECTIVEHARIRAM RAJESH, 3A

to Charlie’s house and checked his cupboard. Ricky found some finger prints inside Charlie’s cupboard. Then he went to the window and checked there. He found that the window glasses are loosened. He went outside the house. Ricky found some footprints. He followed the foot-prints and it ended at a house. Ricky looked from outside the window. He saw that the thief was looking at his cupboard. He quietly went inside the thief’s house and waited for the thief to turn back. When the thief turned, Ricky raised his gun and said say the truth or else I will shoot you. The thief be-came scared and told the truth to Ricky. He caught the thief and brought him to the police station and handed to the police. Then he went to Charlie’s house and gave him his money back. Char-lie thanked Ricky for finding his money.

“Selfies are some-thing new to me, but as

I have become increas-ingly addicted to Instagram,

I have been accused of post-ing too many of them. I was called out to the “Today” show, and have even been called the selfie king,”

James Franco (Director, Actor, Writer)

Selfies are photos taken by oneself usually to share in any social networking site. It has risen to the greatest extent that the modern 21st century will be incomplete without the greatest addiction – selfies. The term selfies was named as the in-ternational word of the year in 2013 by the oxford dictionary which proves its popularity. You might have have seen these selfies in Facebook and other social networking sites. There is even a song in the ra-dio about it! We are awash in selfies. British Prime Minister David Cameroon, US Presi-dent Barack Obama and the list goes on till Pope Francis. This 6 letter word is not as short and simple as it is. Youngsters take

their photos, post it on facebook and wait for the comments and likes. This phenomenon is not as simple as it is. It consumes a lot of time for the person waiting for lovely comments and likes. In addition to it, if the person gets a negative comment, his mind becomes the weakest of all and he himself is caught in the grip of depression and distraction. Selfies have become such a massive trend among the youngsters. The very entertain-ing activity just forms a very small fraction of the term self-ies. But it is much more than that. The danger in selfies can be considered as the universe if the entertainment hidden in selfies is considered to be an ant. The physical and mental health experts comment upon selfies as the worst cause of de-pression, narcissism and other deadly mental disorders. As you proceed with selfies, the span of your life becomes short. The best example for this cause of selfies is mentioned below. Danny Bowman, a 19 year old was born in a rich family in Britain. The first impression he

made himself on his first selfie market was the onset of the ‘Selfie addict David Bowma’. The madness of selfies always twirled his mind. He started spending 10 – 20 hours a day taking selfies. He did not go out of his house for six months. He dropped out of school. He be-came aggressive to his parents. And gradually, one more selfie addict was born. The doctor, who treated him said that Danny is just one among the millions who are selfie addicts. Selfies make a person beauty conscious. He / She focuses more on their ap-pearance and starts forgetting the valuable factors that should be maintained throughout the life. He / She - youngster or adult slowly becomes asocial, distracted and go crazy. The result of the above mentioned example was also the same. He took an overdose and tried to commit suicide but was luckily saved by his mother. Selfies are considered to be very intimate. Once shared, you can’t take it back. Selfies reveal the appearance of a person. It reveals other persons details

like residence, age of fam-ily members, which all makes easy for the stalkers to find out a person’s intimate details. It increases the chance of abus-ing a person’s account in some social networking site. Usually, selfies are taken when a person is shopping, driving, travelling etc which makes easy for the stalkers to find where the per-son is. The self confidence and self esteem may go down if the person is threatened by nega-tive comments. He / She always tries to find perfect looks for his/ her selfies. Its not a complete list of problems caused due to selfies. But just a few of them. Let this essay be a piece of information for the selfie addicts. Time and tide waits for no man. It is time to change the world from self-ies, cameras and selfie sticks to a hub of goodness and peace. Next time, when you post a self-ie, observe your consciousness on your appearance and just a word to remember – You are more than what you look like, Beauty is only skin deep.

She does all the work. She cooks tasty food. She takes care of everyone in my home. She cleans the house and pre-pares my lunch also. She gives me breakfast and she waits for me outside when I return from school. She takes care of me a lot. We should also do something for our mother. We should help her in the works and love her. Our mother is everything for us in the world.
