Praise Publicly, Criticize Privately: Use visibility and proximity to reduce perceived threat.

Appropriate Physical Touch: Physical touch can be used to redirect student attention, as well as for resolving cortisol load in the brain.

Culture Based Praise: Investigate the ways that praise is given within a student’s family, and mimic that praise in your interactions with the student.
