When I was interviewing for various jobs after I graduated, I constantly referred to my experiences abroad. Study abroad experiences can show employers your strong language and communication skills, adaptability, cultural awareness and that you are a well-rounded individual.

The challenges, successes, and frustrations of learning a second language and living in a foreign culture made me more confident navigating most any other situation in life...and most certainly in any work setting!

Through studying in Spain, I gained valuable language skills which were a major asset and factor in my employment. My employers also saw study abroad as a demonstration of independence and the ability to take initiative, and they appreciated the fact that I had experience in working with diverse populations.

Through study abroad I was able to make global contacts. I now have friends all over the U.S., as well as in England, Denmark, Germany, and South Korea. Learning how to build strong relationships with people from all around the globe makes me confident that I will be able to develop strong working relationships when I enter my field after graduating.

While studying in Germany, I made numerous connections to professors and industry professionals from some of the world's leading tech companies such as Siemens, Phillips and SMA - the world leader in solar power inverters.5

By traveling and living abroad, I was able to find my true passion in life and focus my career path on international business.

Being immersed in a culture other than my own was invaluable to my career path. My international experience has made my resume much more competitive and is often brought up during interviews!
