LOUDOUN COUNTY PARENTS OF GIFTED STUDENTS
The StudyPro has partnered with LoCoPOGS to provide our study skills curriculum customized for the unique requirements of gifted students. This weekend “ boot camp” teaches the ten fundamental skills that are
required to plan, manage, and complete work, including:
ORGANIZATION • TIME MANAGEMENT • PRIORITIZATION • CHUNKING WORK • NOTE-TAKING • CAPTURING KEY LECTURE POINTS • CREATING STUDY GUIDES • MEMORY STRATEGIES• LEARNING FROM MISTAKES • AVOIDING MULTI-TASKING
he StudyPro Essential Study Skills curriculum is built to create a “process” for students to become
independent learners and to build habits for lifelong success. Each student receives a learning style assessment and leaves with the strategies that are most effective for their personal learning style.
The course is broken in to five sections:
1. Who Am I as a Learner?2. Visual Note-Taking3. Auditory Note-Taking4. Memory and Test Preparation5. Error Analysis and Learning

“Gifted students have the intellect, but not always the strategies to manage the rigor and complexities of theiradvanced curricula.”
Parents join their child for the final hour of the session, where students share their understanding of their learning style and review the new strategies and work routines they have acquired.
