Scott Foster Harris è un grande cantante americano e

non solo, qualcuno di voi penso ricorderà i tempi di

band come gli L.A. Guns, dei Guns ‘n Roses, etc. Beh

la band dei GNR fu fondata da Tracii Guns e da Axel

Roses, lo stesso Tracii Guns che ha reclutato Scott come

frontman della sua band. Direi che la dice lunga!

Scott Foster Harris, ha tutte le doti di un vero frontman

, carisma, spigliatezza, creatività ed estro, doti canore e

compositive, non suona solo con Tracii Guns ma anche

con i Rising Zen e in questo momento sta lavorando ad

un progetto solista country e come se non bastasse è

anche un attore.

“THe ARTIST”

Having an interview with Scott Foster Harris was a great

opportunity.

He's a great singer, he tours and sings with some of the best

bands, he writes, has a lot of projects, and plays many

instruments.

Scott has so much talent to express...so let's talk about it with

him.Interview by F. Cardillo

SRM: Thanks Scott for being in these pages, it's a real honor as musician and interviewer talking to you,

How would you describe yourself?

SFH: The pleasure’s all mine, Francesco. I’d describe myself as being an emotionally invested, enthusiastic

advocate of the arts…especially music. Music has allowed me to live out many different scenarios, go see

many parts of the world I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to see, and experience situations in life that I

would never have had the opportunity to experience. It has, so far, been the defining aspect of my life.

SRM: What are the music's genre you love most?

SFH:You know, I really like anything that’s good. I don’t have any real boundaries. As long as it’s real

and I can feel it in my soul I usually like it. That being said, I guess my first choices usually revolve

around the blues, country, rock, and classical when I’m in the mood for it. No limits.

SRM: The artist who has influenced you most?

SFH:Wow, though one. Probably The Doors and Hank Williams Sr. had the biggest influences on me.

There’s something frighteningly real about the music of those two acts that haunts me and stays with me

every day. It’s as if, once you hear it, it integrates with your soul and never lets go.

SRM: In your biography, L.A.GUNS, Tracii Guns, Rising Zen, etc... all strong experiences, for the future

what we can expect to hear?

SFH:They were all good times…some of which are still going. I’d say in the future, aside from the League

of Gentlemen which is a band I’m currently fronting for, you can expect to hear a return to my roots in the

form of a country album. Being born and raised in Texas, naturally I discovered country music. It was

my first love and, as it turns out, was the music I was playing in the very beginning when I first became a

musician. I stumbled into rock later on. So, keep your eyes peeled for the country album sometime in the

Spring or Summer perhaps. I’m currently recording and working on it every day, playing all the

instruments, engineering it, producing it, etc. So, needless to say, it’s gonna take a while…but will

definitely be worth it in the end. That kind of music has a very strong emphasis on song writing, which is

something I pursue with the utmost enthusiasm.

SRM: I know you've been to europe, what do you think about the music mainstream?

SHF: Yes I have…many times. In fact, I’m currently in Vienna, Austria recording the country album I

previously spoke about. I think the music scene here in europe is segmented much more than it is in the

States. Different countries have strong scenes for different types of music. In the States, there are, of

course, preferences for types of music that are stronger in some areas than in others, but it’s not nearly as

segmented as it is here. Additionally, the enthusiasm for rock is more prevalent here than it is on the other

side of the ocean.

SRM: What's the piece of music you would like to write?

SHF: I would like to write a terrifying symphony. Not just a normal symphonic piece, but something that

really delves down into the depths of the human psyche and the depths of the human soul and confronts the

darker side of people…something that confronts people’s natural fears. I’ve always found that people are

truly themselves when they’re afraid. It’s a natural instinct….survival mode, if you will. All the acts and

charades are gone. All we’re left with is the essence of the person. I would love to find the time to write a

symphony that inherently made the listener become and project who they really are.

SRM: sometimes I like to think about life as a film with a song as theme, what would be yours?

SHF: Interesting.....my theme song would be, currently, Led Zeppelin’s “Ramble On” because of the many

transitions life is currently offering. We all live and evolve as the days go by. Rambling on is, really, the

only option we have because they’re rolling on either with or without us…so we may as well keep up with

them.

SRM: How would you describe yourself as an actor? What are your best qualities?

SFH: I stumbled into acting by accident. I had some opportunities to make some money acting both on

screen and on the stage so I figured… “Why not?” After I did a few gigs, I fell in love with it and have

been doing it whenever I can ever since. It’s another fantastic outlet to portray different sides of me. It’s

very therapeutic for me…just as music is. I’d consider myself to be an actor of all genres as long as I can

truly get into the character’s mind and, quite literally, “become” that character. Acting to me is real. It’s

not a “fake” art. I enjoy becoming something else for a while. I enjoy encompassing the foreign and

embracing the strange.

SRM: what character you will like to play?

SFH: I think I’d really like the opportunity to play a role such as “The Riddler” in a Batman movie or

perhaps a patient in a psychiatric hospital. Something about the “insane” and the “troubled” has always

attracted me. I’ve done a stage piece in the past where I portrayed a very mentally insane person and I

quite enjoyed it. I could really get into the role and understand, if you can call it that, where the

individual was coming from. It seemed frighteningly normal for me.

SRM : Are you working on something now? We want to anticipate something?

SFH: Keep your eyes peeled for the country album I spoke about earlier.

SRM : and Italy? when we can see you here?

SFH: I’ll get back to Italy probably in the Summer sometime for a tour up and down the coasts and a few

cities in the middle. I’ve always enjoyed playing there because of the fans. The people are amazing,

positive, enthusiastic, and incredibly fun. Some of my favorite memories and experiences while on tour

were in Italy.

SRM : What advice would you give to a guy who wants to pursue a multi-faceted career like yours?

SFH: Keep going, and don’t ever, ever, ever stop. You’ll get there if you truly want it. There’s no other

way.

WhenQuando vi offrono di intervistare qualcuno così creativo e

importante è sempre una grande sfida.

e’ un grande cantante, gira in tour e canta con alcune tra le

più influenti band, scrive, ha tanti progetti in corso suona vari

strumenti. In parole povere, Scott Foster Harris ha talento da

vendere, ma sentiamone di più da lui stesso.interview by F. Cardillo

SRM : Grazie Scott per essere su queste pagine, è un vero onore come musicista e intervistatore a parlare

con te, Come ti descriveresti?

SFH: Il piacere è tutto mio , Francesco. Mi piacerebbe descrivermi come un essere pienodi emozioni, un

entusiasta sostenitore delle arti ... soprattutto della musica. La Musica mi ha permesso di vivere molti

scenari diversi, andare a vedere molte parti del mondo, altrimenti non sarei stato in grado di vivere le

esperienze e le situazioni di vita che non avrei mai avuto l'opportunità di sperimentare. essa, finora , è

stato l' aspetto caratterizzante della mia vita.

SRM : Qual'è il genere di musica che ami di più?

SFH: Sai, mi piace molto tutto ciò che è buono. Non ho confini reali. Finché è reale e lo sento nella mia

anima di solito mi piace. Detto questo, credo che le mie prime scelte di solito ruotano intorno al blues,

country, rock, classica quando sono in vena. Nessun limite.

SRM : L' artista che ha si più influenzato?

SFH: Wow, non solo uno. Probabilmente i The Doors e Hank Williams Sr. avevano grandi influenze su di

me. C'è qualcosa di spaventosamente reale sulla musica di questi due che mi perseguita e rimane con me

ogni giorno. e' come se, una volta che si sente, si integra con la vostra anima e non lascia mai andare.

SRM : Nella tua biografia , L.A.GUNS , Tracii Guns, Rising Zen, etc .. tutte le esperienze forti, per il

futuro, che cosa possiamo aspettarci di sentire?

SFH: Sono stati tutti ottimi tempi ... alcuni dei quali sono ancora in corso. Direi che, in futuro, a parte la

The League of Gentlemen, che è una band con cui sto cantando, ci si può aspettare di sentire un ritorno

alle mie radici, sotto forma di un album country. essendo nato e cresciuto in Texas, naturalmente ho

scoperto la musica country. e' stato il mio primo amore e, a quanto pare, era la musica che suonavo in fin

dall'inizio, quando sono diventato un musicista. Mi sono imbattuto nel rock in seguito. Quindi, tenete gli

occhi aperti per l'album in primavera o estate, forse. Sono in fase di registrazione e sto lavorando su di

esso ogni giorno, suonando tutti gli strumenti, all'engineering, a produrla, etc. Quindi, inutile dirlo, ci

vorrà un pò ... ma sarà sicuramente valsa la pena alla fine. e' il tipo di musica che ha un forte accento

come canzone d'autore, che è qualcosa che perseguo con il massimo entusiasmo.

SRM : So che sei stato in europa, che cosa ne pensa il mainstream musicale?

SFH: Sì ho ... molte volte. In realtà, io sono attualmente a Vienna, Austria, per la registrazione

dell'album paese di cui ho precedentemente parlato. Penso che la scena musicale qui in europa è

segmentato molto più di quanto lo sia negli Stati Uniti. Diversi paesi hanno forti scene per diversi tipi di

musica. Negli Stati Uniti, ci sono, naturalmente, le preferenze per i tipi di musica che sono più forti in

alcune aree piuttosto che in altre, ma non è quasi più segmentato come è qui. Ulteriormente, l' entusiasmo

per il rock è più prevalente qui che è dall'altra parte dell'oceano.

SRM : Qual è il brano musicale che si ti piacerebbe scrivere?

SFH: Vorrei scrivere una sinfonia terrificante. Non è solo un pezzo sinfonico normale ma qualcosa che

scava veramente giù nelle profondità della psiche umana e le profondità dell'animo umano e si confronta

con il lato più oscuro della gente ... qualcosa che si

confronta con le

paure naturali

delle persone.

Ho sempre

trovato che le

persone sono veramente se stessi quando

hanno paura. e' un istinto naturale .... modalità di sopravvivenza, se si vuole. Tutti

gli atti e le sciarade sono andati. Tutto quello che ci rimane è l'essenza della persona. Mi piacerebbe

trovare il tempo di scrivere una sinfonia che intrinsecamente ha fatto diventare l'ascoltatore il progetto che

è realmente.

SRM : a volte mi piace pensare alla vita come un film con una canzone come tema, quale sarebbe la tua?

SFH: Interessante ..... la mia canzone a tema sarebbe, attualmente , " Ramble On" dei Led Zeppelin a

causa delle molte transizioni che la vita offre attualmente. Noi tutti viviamo ed evolviamo come il passare

dei giorni. Rambling on è, in realtà, l'unica opzione che abbiamo perché sono in rotazione su entrambi con

o senza di noi ... quindi possiamo anche tenere il passo con loro.

SRM : Come ti descriveresti come attore? Quali sono le tue qualità migliori?

SFH: Mi sono imbattuto inella recitazione per caso. Ho avuto qualche opportunità di fare un po 'di soldi

che sia sullo schermo che sul palcoscenico così ho pensato ... "Perché no?" Dopo che ho fatto un paio di

uscite, mi sono innamorato di esso e allora ho fatto ogni volta quello che potevo. e' un altro fantastico

outlet di ritrarre diversi lati di me. e' molto terapeutico per me ... proprio come lo è la musica. Mi piacee

mi considero un attore per tutti i generi occorre solo il tempo che possa davvero entrare nella mente del

personaggio e letteralmente, " diventare" quel personaggio. Recitare per me è reale. Non è un arte " falso".

Mi piace diventare qualcosa d'altro per un pò. Mi piace anche comprendere la politica estera e di

abbracciarla per strana che sia. Mi diverte essere lo straniero o recitare quello strano.

SRM : quale personaggio ti piacerebbe interpretare?

SFH: Penso che mi piacerebbe davvero avere l'opportunità di svolgere un ruolo come " l'enigmista " in un

film di Batman o forse un paziente in un ospedale psichiatrico. Qualcosa di " folle " o " travagliato ", mi ha

sempre attratto. Ho fatto un pezzo su un palco in passato, quando ho ritratto una persona mentalmente

molto insana, l'ho veramente molto apprezzato. Potrei davvero entrare nel ruolo e capire, se si può dire

così, come nasceva il personaggio. Sembrava tutto spaventosamente normale per me.

SRM : Stai lavorando a qualcosa adesso? Vogliamo anticipare qualcosa?

SFH: Tenete gli occhi aperti per l'album country, di cui ho parlato in precedenza.

SRM : e l'Italia ? quando ti possiamo vedere qui?

SFH: Tornerò in Italia probabilmente in estate qualche volta per un tour su e giù per le coste e alcune città

del centro. Mi è sempre piaciuto suonare lì perché ho dei fan. Le persone sono incredibili, positive,

entusiaste e incredibilmente divertenti. Alcuni dei miei ricordi e le esperienze preferite sono proprio legate

al tour in Italia.

SRM : Che consiglio daresti ad un ragazzo che vuole intraprendere una carriera poliedrica come la tua?

SFH: Continuate ad andare

avanti, e mai, mai, mai

smettete. Ci si arriva solo

se si vuole veramente. Non

c'è altro modo.
