EXECUTIVESUMMARY

We are an innovative, entrepreneurialteam looking for a like-mindedindividual to step in and providefinancial oversight to all areas of ourbusiness ventures. Reporting to theChief Executive Officer (CEO), you asthe Controller will be responsible forproviding financial management andoperational support for three businessunits (Su Casa Design, Booster Juiceand Devout Developments). As amember of the senior managementteam, you will be involved in strategicplanning, evaluation, and futuredevelopment initiatives. In acollaborative leadership style, you willcontinue to build and manage effectiveand streamlined financial systems,including accounting, legal, andinformation technology. You will definethe process and implement theinfrastructure/systems needed tosupport substantial growth over thenext 5 to 10 years.

Su Casa Design is an award-winning, full service residential design firm located just outsideof Vancouver, BC. We craft plans for character-driven homes across North America andbeyond and are developing an online shop featuring signature home plans, garage & cottageplans, virtual design, paint colour collections and art. Since 2005, Su Casa has beendesigning beautiful, one-of-a-kind homes. Our scope is unlimited and our clienteleworldwide. Booster Juice is Canada’s original juice and smoothie bar offering premium products andexceptional customer experience. We own and operate 13 Booster Juice franchises in BritishColumbia and Alberta employing 130 workers.

Devout Development focuses on one main project per year, either residential, industrial orcommercial in British Columbia, Alberta or if the right project presents itself, just across theline in Washington state. Projects are varied and have included residential homedevelopments, apartment buildings, commercial buildings, and industrial parks.

Oversee the accounting team to ensure propermaintenance of all accounting systems and function;supervise finance staff.

Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controlsand financial procedures.

Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness offinancial reports.

Coordinate all accounting activities and proper filingof tax returns.

Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding allfinancial functions.

Oversee preparation of month-end, quarterly andyear-end financial statements.

Review all month-end closing activities includinggeneral ledger.

Enhance and implement financial and accountingsystems, processes, tools, and control systems.

Ensure cross-training across the accounting team.

ACCOUNTINGPrepare and maintain regular financial planningreports; monthly profit and loss forecast by division(vs. budget); quarterly cash flow forecast.

Prepare consolidated financial statements.

Review and approve preparation and finalization ofmonthly and annual financial reporting materials andmetrics for the Key Performance Indicators.

Develop and execute analysis of various businessinitiatives (i.e., opening new operations, assetacquisition, new service launches, diversification).

Develop and maintain capital budgets.

Explore Government Grants.

Participate in calls with banks, lenders, andstakeholders.

FINANCIAL PLANNING & ANALYSIS

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a key member of the senior management team, assess organizational performance againstboth the annual budget and long-term strategy.

Advise on the financial, budgeting, and administrative processes with an eye to continuouslydeveloping and improving systems.

Advise on financial issues, trends & changes in the operating models and operational delivery.

Assist in establishing yearly objectives and attaining organizational goals.

Collaboratively select and engage outside consultants (accountants, lawyers, advisors, etc.).

Lead information technology plan for the future and implement it successfully to meet future ITneeds (hardware and software) as the organization grows.

STRATEGY

Participate in the development of corporate policiesand protocols.

Develop, inform, educate, and execute theinvestment policy upon approval from the CEO.

Represent the organization to financial partners,including financial institutions, investors,stakeholders, external accountants, consultants,CRA, public officials, etc.

POLICY & STAKEHOLDER RELATIONSRepresent the organization in efforts with bankersand lenders.

Prepare various analysis and reports required forfuture development projects and acquisitions.

CORPORATE DEVELOPMENT

Oversee cash, timely accounts receivable collections,investment, and asset management.

Oversee financial strategies and activities, as well asbanking relationships.

Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictivemodels and activity-based financial analysis toprovide insight into the organization’s operationsand business plans.

Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, and cashflow for administration, existing programs, andproposed new sites.

Hire and retain support staff as needed in the future.

FINANCE

Collaboratively manage the organization’s insuranceprogram.

Collaboratively manage real estate affairs,consisting of leases and sub-leases, negotiating newleases or lease renewal.

Collaboratively manage legal issues in the areas ofclaims, and other financial matters.

INSURANCE, REAL ESTATE & LEGAL AFFAIRS

QUALIFICATIONSChartered Professional Accountant preferred or bachelor’sdegree in Business Administration or MBA.

Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.

Ideally 7 or more years of experience in business accounting,especially in a supervisory role.

Experience should include legal, accounting, compliance,budget, and resource development.

Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposingnew ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment inpeople and systems.

Flexible and a self-starter; able to multi-task while also beinghighly detail oriented.

Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment tothe organization’s core values.

Fluency in English is required – both written and spoken.

A criminal records check will be required for the successfulcandidate.
