UNIVERSITY LAW In January 16 th 2008 Karary University Law was approved by the National Assembly and been endorsed by the President in February 18 th 2008. UNIVERSITY HEAD OFFICE The college of pharmacy is a new college started in 2010 Vision To see excellence in innovative pharmacy education. MEDICAL COLLEGES Introduction Tablet is a pharmaceutical solid dosage form it is the most preferred dosage form all over the world because almost drug molecules can be formulated in a tablet. Coating may be applied to solid oral dosage form including tablets, capsules, multiparticulates and drug crystals which coating is processed by an outer layer of coating material which applied to the surface of a dosage form. Reasons of why we coat tablets :- The tablets may be coated for a variety of reasons such as protection of the active ingredients from air, moisture or light, masking of unpleasant tastes and odours or improvement of their appearance. The aim is :- Investigation of capability of using gum Arabic as a film former on placebo tablet (starch) Method 4 different formulae of dried gum arabic powder were prepared into solution Each solution was stirred continuously for 45 minutes until completely dissolved into homogeneous mixtures. 4 concentrations with plasticizers in ratios of 10%,12%, 13%, 15% gum arabic were prepared Placebo tablets were prepared and physically examined according to the requirement of tablets to be coated with minimum friability and maximum hardness, then divided into four groups of uncoated tablets. Each group of placebo tablet was coated with one of the coating formula solution prepared previously. Physical test evaluation was then done for the groups Results This shows different four groups of coated tablets having different colour and different film formed characteristics due to difference in components of each formula, hence lead to difference in results after physical tests evaluation for the coated samples. Placebo Conc. 10% Conc. 15% Conc. 12% Conclusion Combined plasticizer acts together have cross linking job, with proper HLB (Hydrophilic lipophylic Balance) which gives good Emulsification power and Homogeneity. Group A shows roughness with naked edges and poor finishing. Group B shows good and acceptable picture, which is according to optimum polymer and combined plasticizer. Group C shows roughness and cracks on the surface this takes place when there not enough plasticizer. Group D shows acceptable picture. SO 12% GUM ARABIC CONC.
