Dear Halls,

I was just typing up the family group records Aunt Merrill and Uncle Wendell so graciously dug up for me (and gave me at their family reunion), and noticed that Sarah McVea Hall, John's (still, I think) wife's birthday is coming up on Nov. 20.

I would guess that this is going to be a hard birthday for her, so thought you might want to send a card. The last I heard, John now has his own apartment (John's office e-mail jwhmn@yahoo.com). and Sarah has custody of the children John Richard (b. 15 Mar 1977), Ammon Wendell (10 Mar 1979), Jared Coleman (12 Nov 1980), Rachel Sarah (5 Oct 1982), Joseph Cabell (13 Oct 1785), and Aaron Russsel (28 Aug 1989). Sarah and the children remain at home at 411 Lindenwood Drive, Fargo, North Dakota 58103 (e-mail still shall@pol.org).

Lest I forget, I'm putting Johnny's (John Wendell Hall) birthday on our calendar, too--it's June 9.

I called home today--talked with Dad. He says there's no news in particular, except htat his inner ear problem persists after six weeks--he's not too thrilled about that. Otherwise, everything seems all right there.

We got a call from Laura and Brandon the other day--they were on their way to Salt Lake to meet a cousin and friends, and all of a sudden their car started knocking (turns out a part to their engine went flying). Dan went and got them, and a tow-truck got their car. Since they've been getting along on one car, their situation was pretty desperate--didn't look like it was worth the cost, fixing up their car, so once again it's Stephen to the rescue, bless him! He got them a new but wonderful car (it's green--don't ask me the model) on a great deal. So, thanks again, Stephen, for coming to the rescue. Of course Stephen's real specialty is luxury, not used cars--we're saving up our money for a new Lexus or (what he really recommends) Audi. Knowing us, we'll have to have engine parts blowing out both cars before we'll ever get a new one--but we're just glad the

two we have keep going for now. Of course what we are truly grateful for is that nobody got killed or maimed while their engine blew up.

Well, we're meeting Laura, Brandon, and Daniel at the Black Angus (sounds dangerous) restaurant, whatever that is (Laura's idea) for family home evening. Laura says she has a spiritual experience

she will only share for family home evening if we meet them there. Ho. If there's an angle, she finds it'
