The Director Generat of Shipping (DGS) ,Govt. of lndia ,Mumbai has approved the

etigibitity criteria for admission to the Pre-Sea 4 years Bachetors in Marine

Engineering degree course,l year course for Graduate Marine Engineers (GME) & 2

years course for Diptoma in Marine Engineering (DME) vide this office DGS Circutar

No.7 of 2005 [F.No.11-TR(21)/97] dated 17.06.7005,training Circutar No.6 of 20101

IF.No.TR/pot/8(5)/2010-DSBE]dated 10.06.10, and Training Circutar No. 5 of 2017

[F. No.TR/ ENG / EXAM / 17 (2)2010] dated 07 .09 .17.

Z. ln terms of the said Circutars of this office, there is an etigibitity requirement

of atteast 50% marks in Engtish language either in the 1Oth or 12th standard board

examination for seeking an admission to the said DGS,Got approved maritime

training courses. Now, on a catibrated review there of the Director General of

Shipping , Govt. of lndia, in exercise of the powers conferred on him under ctause

(1) section 456 of the Merchant Shipping Act,1958 as amended ,read with the

Ministry of Shipping,Govt of lndia's Notification No.S.O.No.3144 dated 17.12.60'

I Detegating,inter-atia,the said powers to the Director Generat of Shipping Govt

of lndia lattows Mutatis mutandis [onty to the fottowing extent] the retaxation of

five [5] percent [% ]marks in Engtish language onty to the candidates who are

native of the Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar istands and betong to their

Scheduted Tribes and who & both of whose parents were born in those istands &

betong to the Scheduted Tribes of those istand.

3. Att other etigibitity criteria & condition of the said preceding circutars of this

office, on the subject sha[[ continue to be applicabte, going forward as wett.
