productionTo Capture your images, use whatever type of camera you have available – cellphone, DSLR, Point-And-Shoot, iPad … The Media Arts Department cannot provide equipment loans at this time, so use whatever you have available & be creative.

*TIP: TO ACHIEVE A HIGH CONTRAST B&W IMAGE, HAVE A RANGE OF TONAL VALUEs IN THE COLOURS that You're PHOTOGRAPHING. IF YOU CAPTURE ALL SIMILAR COLOURS IN THE SAME TONE, THE FINAL IMAGE WILL lack tonal variation.

Aaaron Siskind Extension Activity If you want to delve deeper into Siskind’s work and enjoy the visual journaling process, develop a page/spread about his photography. You can include your opinion, a description of the artist/genre/photographs, quotes … As always, your final assignment should demonstrate your critical and creative thinking.

You can complete this assignment digitally using a word processing application (Microsoft Word, Pages, Google Docs...) or use a free graphic design platform ( Canvas- https://www.canva.com) to create a moodboard/photo collage.
