The controlled assessment is a research based project where students must compare a local and a national business. The national business (Barratt Developments Plc) has been provided for them. Students need to ensure they have carried out all the necessary research and planning into their local business.

Production

Students will learn about the different types of production and how businesses ensure that the quality of their products is high. They will investigate how businesses add value to their products and how technology impacts what is made. Students will then learn about the links between production and staffing whilst comparing Eastern and Western approaches to production. Finally, students will investigate methods of increasing efficiency and how businesses benefit from economies of scale when they grow.

Passive amplifier Project

Customs and Festivals

Students will be learning to understand, discuss and write about customs and festivals which are important to France and other French speaking countries. They will also discuss some current affairs in French to help them become more aware of the world around them, and to spontaneously express their views in the target language. By now students should be using at least 4 tenses in spoken and written French with varying degrees of competency.

Assignment 1 - Understanding the media – Advertising Production and Evaluation tasks

Componant 1: Devising coursework 40% of qualification

Pupils to continue to develop their devised piece of theatre including practitioner techniques. Whilst creating a portfolio of the creative process. Pupils will take part in workshops based around several practitioners:

• Stanislavski • Brecht • Artaud

They will then apply these techniques and skills to allow them to develop their piece further. Allowing them to finalise the piece through rehearsal. Pupils will then be formally assessed towards the end of spring term or beginning of the summer term.

Choosing pathways for Learning . Students will begin to discuss with staff how they see their pathway for learning developing. Peer leaders help in the construction of two pathways from which students will choose the one most appropriate for them. Edexcel Unit 2: Knowledge and understanding of Textiles Technology Unit 3: T-shirt (knitted)

To gain an understanding of the characteristics, processes, application and advantages/ disadvantages of ICT in the design, development, marketing and sales of textiles products. Students will apply this knowledge and understanding to design a t-shirt/ sweatshirt for a local company ‘Rusks to Rebels’. To gain an understanding of environmental issues and the impact it has on the fashion industry. Students will research, design and manufacture a decorative textile accessory using recycled materials.

Sketch, photograph, collect as many images as you can of styles of t-shirts and different placement print designs on t-shirts.
