Main Office Washington State - School Safety Bill The Washington State Catholic Conference has been working hard during this session of the Legislature to advance legislation, SB 6410, that would require first responders to notify all schools – public or private – of an emergency happening in the vicinity of a school that may require lock down or evacuation. This bill, which passed the full Senate last week, is at a critical stage in the House Education Committee. It must be voted on and approved before Friday, February 23, in order to remain alive. The WSCC is asking us to contact the committee chairperson, Rep. Sharon Tomiko Santos , and urge that a vote be held on SB 6410. Her phone number is (360) 786-7944. While re-enrollment information won’t be mailed until March, you can create your account with FACTS tuition management now. Under the Admissions tab of the O’Dea website there is a link with information regarding FACTS, or you may access FACTS directly on the top bar of our homepage (See below). Please note that your FACTS account must be created by March 19th. Thank you for your help and please contact Joan Moore if you have questions. Advancement Office Celebrate O'Dea is SOLD OUT! We are excited to announce that this year's auction has reached maximum capacity. Guests' plans do change and spaces may open up, so please reach out to Advancement Director, Allie DeLong , to be placed on the waitlist. A big thank you to those who have donated an item to the auction. The Advancement Office is open for donation deliveries Monday – Friday from 7am to 3:30pm. The deadline to deliver your item is March 8, 2018. Many volunteers are still needed to help with the auction. We need help with set-up, decorations, inventory, item distribution, banking, certificates, clean-up, etc. If you are interested in helping in any capacity please click HERE . Student Life Tickets on Sale for O'Dea/HNA "Spring Fling" The O’Dea/HNA “Spring Fling” Social at the Family Fun Center in Tukwila is coming up on Friday, March 9th from 7pm - 10pm. Students will have access to mini-golf, unlimited bumper boats, laser tag, 10 arcade tokens, and more! O’Dea and HNA chaperones will be on hand to help promote safety and fun for this event. Beards for Bros Campaign Underway The O’Dea Fighting Irish, Fighting Cancer Jr. Guild’s “Beards for Bros” fundraising campaign is now underway to raise awareness and funds to support the Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Program at Seattle Children’s Hospital. The student-led fundraiser is in its 4th year now and hopes to raise over $10,000 through beard sponsorships, merchandise sales, and direct donations. Check out the student-designed official t-shirt ($15) and other merchandise HERE ! All students who raise at least $100 can grow facial hair from February 26th to March 27th. Fathers can join their sons and get in on the fun by donating $50 and growing a beard for a chance to win the Father-Son Best Beard category! Online donations can be made directly HERE . Any questions, please contact House Director Mr. Daniel Mullen . Relaxed Dress Day to Benefit Seattle Children's On Friday, March 2nd, we will have our monthly Relaxed Dress Day. This month your donations will benefit Seattle Children's as part of our Beards for Bros campaign. All students who purchase their Beards for Bros t-shirt ($15) can wear those shirts and do not need to pay the $5. Otherwise, students are able to “dress down for a cause” by donating a minimum $5. Students can purchase official Beards for Bros t-shirts by HERE . All shirts can be picked up in the House HUB. Any questions, please contact Waterford Dean Mr. Brandon Maul . “Behind-the-Scenes” Tour of Seattle Children’s Research Building Students interested in architecture, engineering, science, or health, and that would like a behind-the-scenes tour of how a major research building is currently being constructed, please join a special tour of the Seattle Children's Research Institute on Boren Ave. Students will put on protective gear and go on a guided tour on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 2:30pm - 4:30pm. Spring Service Opportunities Please note: 25 Service hours must be logged in to X2vol by May 1, 2018. Serve with Holy Names On Sunday, March 18th, HNA will join with O’Dea to volunteer at the Seattle Public Library Annual Sale at the Seattle Center. Eight O’Dea Freshmen or Sophomore volunteers are needed from 3:30-7pm. If you are interested, please email Ms. Curl and she will add you to the list. Students will need to find their own transportation. Chaperones are being provided by Holy Names Academy. St. George School St. George School is looking for student volunteers to help out with dinner service during their Annual Auction on Saturday, April 28th from 5-10 pm. They need ten students willing to volunteer. If interested please email [email protected] or call 206-762- 0656. Westside Baby Westside Baby is a great organization that helps children in need. They are looking for volunteers to sort through clothing donations. Click HERE to learn more. Life Enrichment Options Life Enrichment Options (LEO) is a small non profit looking for an O’Dea gentleman who can help make changes to their website as well as maintain and update it in the future. The website is a WordPress site, and the student who applies need not have much experience, only a willingness to search out the information and learn how to make the changes. Summer Service Opportunities Please note: starting on the first day of summer you can begin to work on your service requirements for the next school year. Special Olympics Seattle The Archdiocese of Seattle is partnering with the 2018 Seattle Special Olympics! There are many ways to get involved with this event from being a fan in the stands to helping with the events. Click HERE to see the list of volunteer opportunities. Use the access code SPIRIT2018. Volunteers must register by April 15, 2018. Camp Eagle Camp Eagle is a Christian summer camp in Auburn (Formerly Camp Beracha) looking for high school volunteers to work as either a camp counselor or on the service team. Brother against brother, daughter refusing marriage, wife scamming husband; all chaos and hilarity makes The Imaginary Invalid a must see for all! Attend Friday the 23rd at 7:00pm, Saturday the 24th at 2:00pm and 7:00pm, and Sunday the 25th at 2:00pm. Performances are held in the Holy Names Academy Auditorium. Admission is $5.00 for students and seniors, $10.00 for adults.
