Artadia is proud to announce that three Artadia Awardees

Artadia returns to Atlanta for our third Award cycle in the

city The application open to all Atlanta based visual

artists closes at midnight on March 23 2014 First round

jurors Michael Rooks The Wieland Family Curator of

Modern and Contemporary Art at Atlantarsquos High Museum

Christopher Lew Assistant Curator at MoMA PS1 and

Carter Foster Curator of Drawings at The Whitney

Museum of American Art will convene in late March to

review all applications and select 10 Finalists In midshy

April Michael Rooks will be joined by Aram Moshayedi

Curator at UCLArsquos Hammer Museum and artist Xaviera

Simmons in Atlanta The secondshyround jurors will

conduct studio visits with the finalists and determine the

winners of the 2014 Artadia Atlanta Awards The winners

Artadia is pleased to announce that we are continuing our

partnership with the New Art Dealers Alliance for the

fourth season Taking place May 9shy11 2014 at Pier 36shy

Basketball City The 2014 NADA New York Art Fair

creatively reinvents the art fair experience and is

dedicated to celebrating the talents of rising artists from

around the world Two internationallyshyrenowned jurors

will walk through the fair on opening day to determine

which artist amongst the hundreds of artists presented

at The NADA art fair will receive an unrestricted $4000

award The award is generously funded by NADA and

Artadia The Artadia NADA award was inaugurated in

2012 Previous Artadia NADA awardees include Margaret

Lee (2012 Miami) Meg Cranston (2013 New York) and

Ryan Foerster (2013 Miami)

2007 Boston Artadia Awardee Hannah Barrett has been

commissioned to create a specialshyedition wallpaper

based on Austrian pastries for Artadiarsquos booth at NADA

Barrettrsquos paintings will be on display alongside works

by other Artadia Awardees from across the country

Artadias 15th Anniversary Exhibition

This September Artadia will host a 15th anniversary

exhibition at Longhouse Projects at 285 Spring Street

featuring Artadia Awardees from Atlanta Boston

Chicago Houston Los Angeles and San Francisco

Curated by Gianni Jetzer the exhibition will create a

cohesive portrait of a national art community informed by

regional trends

And the Award Goes To The 2014 Artadia Los

Angeles Award Exhibition at LACE

To celebrate the work and achievements of the 2013

Artadia Los Angeles Awardees and commemorate

Artadiarsquos first grant cycle in Los Angeles Artadia

in collaboration with LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary

Exhibitions) presented an exhibition of work by the five

Los Angeles Awardees The exhibition was on view from

January 23 shy February 22 2014 Cayetano Ferrer

Vishal Jugdeo Nicole Miller Stanya Kahn Kerry

Tribe were selected through Artadiarsquos rigorous twoshy

tiered awards process to received unrestricted awards

and ongoing support by panel of internationallyshy

renowned curators and artists The 2013 Artadia Los

Angeles jury was Ali Subotnick (Curator Hammer

Museum UCLA Los Angeles)Joao Ribas (formerly of

MITrsquos List Visual Art Center Cambridge) and Magnolia

de la Garza (Associate Curator Museo Rufino Tamayo

Mexico City) Chus Martinez (formerly of El Museo del

Barrio New York) and artist Spencer Finch (New York)

(2006 Houston) recently completed threeshymonth Artadiashy

sponsored residencies at The International Studio and

Curatorial Program in Brooklyn New York Alvarez and

Maxon follow Bernard Williams (2001 Chicago) and

Deva Graf (2004 Chicago) who participated in Artadiarsquos

residency program in the fall of 2013 Artadia will present

work created by Alvarez and Maxson while in residence at

ISCP in our DUMBO exhibition space through June

Artadia is pleased to welcome four new

appointments to the Board of Directors

Kimberly Light is the founder and owner of LightBox an

art advisory company based in New York and Los

Angeles With over 20 years of experience working in the

art world Ms Light brings an extensive knowledge and

perspective to Artadias board Ms Light has run two

successful galleries in Los Angeles and earned her

masters in contemporary art history and theory from the

Sothebyrsquos Institute Currently based in New York Ms

Light has expanded her focus from the commercial to

manage private collections and independent curatorial

projects

Karen Mehiel is the CEO of Kampack Inc a corrugated

manufacturing company With over 20 years of

experience in the industrial packaging industry Ms

Mehiel brings strategic financial insight and critical

leadership qualities to the Artadia board Ms Mehiel is

also an active supporter of the Democratic Party a

member of the Womenrsquos Business Enterprise National

Council and a board member of Amani Global Works

The Climate Group Womens Voices for Change and

Eleanors Legacy

Laurie Ziegler is an expert in the fields of strategic

marketing brand placement corporate gifting and talent

gifting Ms Ziegler sits on the board of The Mistake

Room and The Ojai Playwrights Conference and on the

advisory board of The Geffen Playhouse She is also

involved with LAXART and the childrenrsquos focused art

groups PS ARTS and Children Mending Hearts working

with these groups on sponsorship and events Based in

Los Angeles Ms Ziegler is an active contemporary art

collector

Margot Ziegler is a New York based contemporary art

collector and artshyenthusiast As a longshytime Artadia

Artadias 15th Anniversary Exhibition

This September Artadia will host a 15th anniversary

exhibition at Longhouse Projects at 285 Spring Street

featuring Artadia Awardees from Atlanta Boston

Chicago Houston Los Angeles and San Francisco

Curated by Gianni Jetzer the exhibition will create a

cohesive portrait of a national art community informed by

regional trends

And the Award Goes To The 2014 Artadia Los

Angeles Award Exhibition at LACE

To celebrate the work and achievements of the 2013

Artadia Los Angeles Awardees and commemorate

Artadiarsquos first grant cycle in Los Angeles Artadia

in collaboration with LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary

Exhibitions) presented an exhibition of work by the five

Los Angeles Awardees The exhibition was on view from

January 23 shy February 22 2014 Cayetano Ferrer

Vishal Jugdeo Nicole Miller Stanya Kahn Kerry

Tribe were selected through Artadiarsquos rigorous twoshy

tiered awards process to received unrestricted awards

and ongoing support by panel of internationallyshy

renowned curators and artists The 2013 Artadia Los

Angeles jury was Ali Subotnick (Curator Hammer

Museum UCLA Los Angeles)Joao Ribas (formerly of

MITrsquos List Visual Art Center Cambridge) and Magnolia

de la Garza (Associate Curator Museo Rufino Tamayo

Mexico City) Chus Martinez (formerly of El Museo del

Barrio New York) and artist Spencer Finch (New York)

DL Alvarez (2013 San Francisco) and Eileen Maxson

(2006 Houston) recently completed threeshymonth Artadiashy

sponsored residencies at The International Studio and

Curatorial Program in Brooklyn New York Alvarez and

Maxon follow Bernard Williams (2001 Chicago) and

Deva Graf (2004 Chicago) who participated in Artadiarsquos

residency program in the fall of 2013 Artadia will present

work created by Alvarez and Maxson while in residence at

ISCP in our DUMBO exhibition space through June

Artadia is pleased to welcome four new

appointments to the Board of Directors

Kimberly Light is the founder and owner of LightBox an

art advisory company based in New York and Los

Angeles With over 20 years of experience working in the

art world Ms Light brings an extensive knowledge and

perspective to Artadias board Ms Light has run two

successful galleries in Los Angeles and earned her

masters in contemporary art history and theory from the

Sothebyrsquos Institute Currently based in New York Ms

Light has expanded her focus from the commercial to

manage private collections and independent curatorial

projects

Karen Mehiel is the CEO of Kampack Inc a corrugated

manufacturing company With over 20 years of

experience in the industrial packaging industry Ms

Mehiel brings strategic financial insight and critical

leadership qualities to the Artadia board Ms Mehiel is

also an active supporter of the Democratic Party a

member of the Womenrsquos Business Enterprise National

Council and a board member of Amani Global Works

The Climate Group Womens Voices for Change and

Eleanors Legacy

Laurie Ziegler is an expert in the fields of strategic

marketing brand placement corporate gifting and talent

gifting Ms Ziegler sits on the board of The Mistake

Room and The Ojai Playwrights Conference and on the

advisory board of The Geffen Playhouse She is also

involved with LAXART and the childrenrsquos focused art

groups PS ARTS and Children Mending Hearts working

with these groups on sponsorship and events Based in

Los Angeles Ms Ziegler is an active contemporary art

collector

Margot Ziegler is a New York based contemporary art

collector and artshyenthusiast As a longshytime Artadia

supporter Ms Ziegler brings perspective commitment
