Substantial Savings in the pipeline...Wales & West Utilities is a regulated gas distribution business
with around 35,000 km of gas pipelines covering a 1/6th of the UK.
As well as providing new gas connections and gas meter repairs
or replacements, Wales & West Utilities responds to more than
125,000 gas emergency calls; so the need to have a robust supply
chain and logistics operation ensuring that the correct parts and
materials are in the right place at the right time is critical.
The consultants identified that proposed competitive tender process for Wales & West Utilities
Logistics and Distribution operations provided the opportunity to completely review their existing
logistics strategy and gain significant additional benefits throughout their entire supply chain, which
were clearly identified from the outset.
The team worked on site with the Wales & West Utilities supply chain, procurement and warehouse
teams reviewing the supply chain process to develop the full Logistics requirements of the depot
networks enabling them to define the future state service level requirements & KPI’s based on the
specific needs.

project plan into the Wales & West Utilities outsourcing tender
programme and delivered to all key milestones; reviewing
regularly with the project steering group and executive board.
