Distinguished for being one of the UK’s most successful Asian entrepreneurs, James Caan was rushed into the spotlight with the BBC’s Dragons Den. Now he plans to use his fame to promote his charity work and how he has come to re-evaluate what money is really worth. Despite balancing his day job running a business and appearing on Dragon’s Den, the multi-millionaire made some time to converse with us. Mr Caan spills the beans with ourMr Assif Majid.

Since 2001 Angelina has been heavily involved in United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), an organisation which aims at giving refugees shelter, protection and more importantly, dignity. Due to the nature of today’s celebrity culture, however, it could be assumed that Angelina gives her name and face to the cause, but not her time, But this could not be further from the truth; Angelina Jolie is a Goodwill Ambassador, who not only works equally alongside eld staff, but travels around the world to over 20 countries and encounters unimaginable situations head-on.

One such event took place in 2003, in Chad, Central Africa. Here, the UNHCR aid workers, including Angelina, worked directly in battling the overwhelming needs of the hundreds of thousands of refugees. This period of confusion and con ict was said to be one of the worse the organisation had ever witnessed or been involved in.

one million victims of persecution and war. (March 2003) UNHCR/ N. Behring-Chisholm

It’s common knowledge that Angelina has the criteria and charisma to carry any lm to box of ce success, but its her dedication and commitment to a number of causes which make her so much more than just a pretty face.

cruise control system that automatically adjusts the car speed maintaining a safe distance. In theory, cruise control works best on a Radar that is installed behind the grille of the vehicle detecting speed and distance of the vehicle ahead – which means it always looks forward!!

Mercedes-Benz was the rst car to be installed with this TRW’s “Forward Looking Radar system” followed by Jaguar XKR with adaptive

Called INQ1 and pronounced ‘ink one’, this new phone is targeted at Facebook junkies and echo’s the growth in the use of ‘smartphones’ for direct internet access as well as for talking and texting, it marks the explosion of social networking as a main-stream activity across all age ranges.

The phone will be much cheaper than the current iPhone, Blackberry Storm and G2. You can pay as much as £45 a month on an 18 month contract with O2, whilst on pay as you go you can expect to pay £349.99 for a handset. The INQ1 will set you back only £15 a month on an 18 month contract with 3. For this you will get unrestricted access to Facebook and Skype calls, as well as access to Windows Live Messenger.

The phone will have unique buttons that offer instantaneous access to Facebook features and allow users to “poke” friends without having to navigate the site itself. So is the INQ1 the new Christmas must-have gift? This all depends on its user friendliness and how the software works.

Japanese workers in Tokyo pay for shopping, win free food and even get store discounts all by ashing their mobile phone. Nokia and Visa Inc are in the process of testing this technology, whilst in Japan over 50 million

mobile users already have this technology. Success in Japan has shown that the technology is ready for cell phones to replace credit cards, cash as well as serve as transportation and movie tickets and electronic keys

for homes and of ces. Visa is developing an application to allow in-store contactless payments by mobile phone for Google’s Android operating system. Mobile operator O2 is also testing wallet phones.

cruise control system (ACCS). ACCS, is supposedly better than conventional cruise control, it works through a Radar Headway sensor, a digital signalling processor and longitudinal controller, technically maintaining the distance between two cars in the same lane. If the car ahead of you slows down, the Headway sensor senses this and sends signals to the engine and braking system, thus slowing down the car. Then, when the road ahead is clear, the system

re-accelerates to set speed. Nobody knows how these so called ‘Radar Systems’ will work if we keep swapping lanes as we all do in England. Certainly a topic for debate! There will most likely be another new technology yet to be developed and even if it was developed that it will be something beyond human grasp.

I think it is better to remain immortalised by owning or adding to your own speed limit signs.

hough only released in 2005, Britain’s best-loved hot hatch the Focus ST has been given a thorough going

over with the duster for 2008, but while the exterior’s seen its share of nip/tuck, the drive train and chassis have been left virtually untouched.

Beneath its sleek new look, there lurks the same 2.5 litre, turbo-charged, ve-cylinder engine that made us fall in love with the ST to begin with. The straight ve imbues this car with a very different feel to its main rival, the Honda Civic Type-R. Where the Type-R is a high revving masochist that thrives on being thrashed, the ST is deep and forceful. Light coaxing of the throttle elicits a bassy rumble from the front and menacing pops from the rear. If you dare to pin the throttle open, you ride a seamless swell of torque that thrusts you into your seat and if you’re handy with the six-speed gearbox, you’ll reach sixty mph in less than seven seconds. All this is accompanied by a throbbing soundtrack, akin to a Lion purring at
