From the Chapter Chairmans Desk Brothers:
As we enter the summer months it is the start of a newColumbian year. I hope your summer is going good and hope you arestaying cool. I want to congratulate all the new incoming GKs andI also want to Thank all the outgoing GKs for a job well done.
I would like to take this opportunity to Thank You all for yourvote of confidence in electing me your Chapter Chairman for the year2014-15. This past year has been interesting in that we had some
firsts, we also eliminated the roll call of councils and went to sign-in,we combined our installation with our sister Columbiettes and wewent to some councils that never had a chapter meeting. I am lookingforward to this coming year and visiting some councils that also havenot hosted a chapter meeting.
This years Charity Drive was a success and I want to ThankMike Boehm and his whole committee for their outstanding job. Icouldnt ask for a better committee! I also want to Thank all thecouncils that supported the Charity Drive whether it was in Charitybooks, Direct Donations, journal ads etc. THANK YOU! My specialThanks to Amelia and her Chapter Columbiettes for their outstanding
job on the Charity Drive. Our Direct Donations was $21,000 whichwas for our recipient the Sunrise Fund, in the past few years theSuffolk Chapter has given the Sunrise Fund over $200,000. Wecelebrated the end of the Charity Drive with a Gala celebration atChateau Le Mer with 227 people.
At this time I personally would like to Thank PGK, FDDEd Freudenburg for his many years of service to the Nassau/Suffolkand Suffolk Chapter as financial comptroller.Thank You Ed!
Next months Chapter meeting will be

Pag
My Dearest Sister Columbiettes,I hope you are enjoying your summer thus far. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support in electi
us, your Suffolk Chapter Officers, to a second term. I know that we are excited about this upcoming year and we look forward tosharing our excitement with you once again. We have worked hard on continuing to unite with our Brother Knights and look forwato building on that this year! I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to my Officers for an amazing first year together! We areso different but worked very well together! Thank you for all you do for Chapter!
As we are a fraternal order, and charity is our focus, I would like to thank the Auxiliaries who have supported the Chaptethis past year. With your help we were able to donate over $4,000 to various charities including our very own FAC program. Inaddition, we also lent support to a local seminarian, as well as our retired sisters. We continue to look forward to replicating thatsuccess this year!
With everyones busy schedule, planning will be a bit challenging but I know that working together we will reach successI do ask that you do everything you can not to plan an Auxiliary function on the dates of chapter events. Your support to andattendance at our functions are greatly needed if we wish to continue our generous donations to our favorite charities.
Friday, August 8, 2014, our Brother Knights will be hosting their Annual Indoctrination Meeting at Patchogue Council. AlColumbiettes are invited and encouraged to attend. I suggest that you not travel alone, but bring a Columbiette or two with you!Your attendance is greatly appreciated as the Knights changed their meeting date to accommodate us. We extend our sincerestthanks to our Chapter Chairman, Tom Romano!
This year the Supreme Columbiette Convention is being held on August 15-17, 2014 in Orlando, FL. Celebrating 75 yea

We look forward to seeing our delegates in attendance! Please know ALL Columbiettes are welcome!
I know many of you participated in a very well organized and beneficial training last year which was sponsored by the NYColumbiettes. Jeanne Mucci, our NYS President, has once again scheduled a training session for Saturday, October 4, 2014.Please hold the date as details will follow. Old or new presidents will benefit tremendously from this training. Plan accordingly!

Thank you to all who have returned their delegate/alternate lists and have offered to host a meeting, event or degree. If you have not sent your paperwork to me, I ask that you do simmediately so we can update our records accordingly and plan our calendar.

Stolen Car ~ Author Unknown
A driver did the right thing, stopping at thecrosswalk even though he could have beaten
the red light by accelerating through theintersection.
The tailgating woman behind him went ballistic, pounding on hehorn and screaming in frustration as she missed her chance to
drive through the intersection with him. Still inmid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and
looked up into the face of a very serious policeofficer.
The officer ordered her to exit her car withher hands up. He took her to the police stationwhere she was searched, fingerprinted,
photographed and placed in a cell. After a couple of hours, apoliceman approached the cell and opened the door. She was
escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer waswaiting with her personal effects.
He said, "I'm awfully sorry for thismistake. You see, I pulled up behind yourcar while you were blowing your horn, flipping the guy off infront of you, and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the
"Choose Life" license plate holder, the "What Would Jesus Do?"bumper sticker, the "Follow me to Sunday School" bumpersticker and the chrome plated Christian fishemblem on the trunk. "Naturally, I assumed youhad stolen the car."

In 1954, lobbyingby the Order of the Knights of Columbushelped convince the U.S. Congress to add the phrase "under
God" to the Pledge of Allegiance. President Dwight
Eisenhower wrote to Supreme Knight Luke E. Hart thankingthe Knights for their "part in the
movement to have the words 'under God'added to our Pledge of Allegiance."
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the UnitedStates of America, and to the republic for
which it stands, one nation under God,indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
