CHAPTER OFFICERS Knights of Columbus Vol. 15 No. 5 November 2015 SUFFOLK CHAPTER NEWS From the Chapter Chairman’s Desk … My Dear Brother Knights, Happy Halloween to all. Our November 13 th Chapter meeting will be held at St. Martin’s Council in Amityville. At our October Chapter Meeting we honored the Fourth Degree Assemblies and it went very well. Faithful Navigators Rich DiStefano of Shea, Jerry Wilhelm from Fatima and the Master of the Fourth Degree Greg Warnokowski were presented with Certificates for all that the Fourth Degree does to support the Chapter. Thanks to all who participated in the celebration. I am extremely disturbed at the attendance for the FAC Bingo. In addition to the members of St. Regis Council, who so generously run this function to replenish our FAC funds, there were only 6 members who supported this very important fund raiser. I would personally like to thank John and Tina Mastrosimone and Pat and Danny Tariol who joined Mary and me. Congratulations to John who won $315.00 in the very first game. There are many Knights and Columbiettes who are applying for FAC funds, just remember that someday it could be you who needs financial assistance and we may have to say, “Sorry the well is dry”. The FAC 300 Club is designed to consistently replenish the funds to sustain the program so please purchase a number so that we can get this program off the ground. The tickets are $50.00 each, but if you can’t afford one on your own, chip in with some of your friends. Due to a lack of participation the Day of Recollection had to be postponed. Hopefully more interest will be displayed when it will be rescheduled. For those of you who don’t know Fr. Stephen Donnelly, who will be celebrating this day, he is an extremely eloquent speaker. It will be a very spiritual and entertaining day. You will not be disappointed. Our Bishops Mass and Chapter Installation is on November 8, 2015 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Patchogue. The mass begins at 11:30am. After the mass we will be going back to Patchogue Council for the Knights and Columbiettes Installations. A repast and celebration will follow. If you have not yet received your white book, they will be available at the November Chapter Meeting. In 1954, lobbying by the Order of the Knights of Columbus

helped convince the U.S. Congress to add the phrase "under

God" to the Pledge of Allegiance. President Dwight

Eisenhower wrote to Supreme Knight Luke E. Hart thanking

the Knights for their "part in the

movement to have the words 'under God'

added to our Pledge of Allegiance." “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United

States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God,

indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. ”

PLEASE EXPEDITE

Prayer for the Canonization of Father Michael J. McGivney God, our Father, protector of the poor and defender of the widow and orphan, you called your priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, to be an

apostle of Christian family life and to lead the young to the generous service of their neighbor. Through the example of his

life and virtue may we follow your Son, Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling his commandment of charity and building up

his Body which is the Church. Let the inspiration of your servant prompt us to greater confidence in your love so that we

may continue his work of caring for the needy and the outcast. We humbly ask that you glorify your servant

Father Michael J. McGivney on earth according to the design of your holy will. Through his intercession, grant the favor

I now present (here make your request). Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father.

Happy Thanksgiving to all! Jesus, thank you for loving us;

And providing food, shelter, and each other.

Every moment of our lives is a gift;

And we appreciate all the time You have given us.

Thank you for all our good fortune.

Amen.
